The Ambassadors had a great day learning about Huckleberry Rescue and snuggling with puppies. To top it off, we ended the trip with lunch at Sonic. Thank you, Huckleberry Rescue and Sonic of Anderson for supporting our students.

Our Redbird Ambassadors have been very busy the last couple of weeks. Last Tuesday, the fourth-grade Ambassadors volunteered at Crosslines, and yesterday the fifth-grade Ambassadors had their turn. While the fifth-graders were at Crosslines yesterday, our fourth-grade Ambassadors helped to spread a little kindness in honor of Random Acts of Kindness Day. They delivered a snack and drink to each staff member to help brighten their day. We are so proud of all our Ambassadors and the example they set every day.

Yesterday, I shared that Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood, is our focus habit for this month. This habit helps us become an effective communicator. In our lessons, we discuss how we can understand others by observing their body language. We investigate how our words can sometimes say one thing, but our tone and body language can reveal our true feelings. Here's a fun activity to practice observing body language while also getting some energy out.

This month, our Habit is Seek First to Understand and Then to Be Understood. This habit is about listening with the intent to understand and, when the time comes, sharing your point of view clearly, confidently, and respectfully.

Ask your child who they think is a great listener and why. What does this person do that makes your child feel they really care and are trying to understand what they are sharing with them? Then, ask your child what their strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to listening and sharing their point of view.

We'll discuss these topics during our next guidance lesson. Until then, I'd love to see and hear how your child has been enjoying the snow. Feel free to comment below!

Tomorrow is Free Ice Cream Friday. Each student will receive an ice cream sandwich to celebrate reaching our food drive goal! Thank you to everyone for helping make our food drive successful!
