With school right around the corner, our Homeland Park Junior Firefighters took a well-deserved break to enjoy an evening at the Greenville Drive game!

Spending time together outside the firehouse helps build friendships, teamwork, and the family atmosphere that makes our Junior Firefighter program so special. These young men are the future of the fire service, and we’re proud to invest in them both on and off the training ground.

A big thank you to everyone who helps support our Junior Firefighter Program and provides opportunities like this. We hope everyone has a great school year, and we look forward to seeing what these future firefighters accomplish!

What an incredible Fourth of July celebration!

On behalf of the Homeland Park Fire Department, thank you to everyone in our community who came out to celebrate with us. Seeing so many families, friends, and neighbors enjoying the day together made all the hard work worthwhile.

A special thank you goes to our dedicated members active, honorary and our volunteers. Countless hours of planning, cooking, setting up, serving, cleaning up, and ensuring everyone’s safety went into making this event a success. Your commitment and teamwork truly reflect what serving this community is all about.

We also want to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors. Your generosity and continued support help make events like this possible, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Thank you to everyone who purchased BBQ, hot dog plates, concessions, and supported our department throughout the day. Every dollar raised helps us continue serving the Homeland Park community.

A special thank you to Copeland ESV for bring back our old Rescue Truck to the event. A lot of history and pride is in those four doors. It definitely has a good home.

We are proud to announce that Homeland Park Fire Department has been awarded the V-SAFE Grant.

This funding is a major step forward in strengthening our capabilities and ensuring our firefighters have the equipment needed to serve our community at the highest level.

With this grant, we will be investing in critical rescue equipment that will allow our crews to perform advanced operations, support truck company functions, and improve response effectiveness for both our district and our mutual aid partners.

This is more than just equipment this is an investment in safety, readiness, and the protection of our citizens and firefighters.

SC Forestry Commission to issue statewide burning ban; restriction on all outdoor burning goes into effect at 7 a.m. Friday

COLUMBIA—The South Carolina Forestry Commission is issuing a State Forester’s Burning Ban for all counties, effective at 7 a.m. Friday, April 17.

A State Forester’s Burning Ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including yard debris burning, prescribed burning, campfires, bonfires and other recreational fires in all unincorporated areas of the state.

Forestry Commission officials cite a particularly dangerous mix of elevated wildfire risk factors through the weekend that warrant limiting all ignitions in the interest of public safety.

Rapidly escalating drought conditions across the state, a critical decrease in relative humidities over the next several days and gusty winds that are expected to accompany an approaching cold front will combine to create extreme fire danger.

"When it’s this dry – energy release component values are at high-to-critical levels – we’re just as likely, if not more, to see wildfires that are fuel-driven rather than wind-driven. Add the other volatile conditions of increased wind and lower relative humidity, and it becomes an especially precarious situation,” said SCFC Fire Chief Darryl Jones. "These conditions not only increase the likelihood of wildfires igniting easily and spreading rapidly, but would also make them more difficult for firefighters to control.”

While the ban does not apply to fires used for the preparation of food or fires used in appropriate enclosures (portable outdoor fireplaces, chimineas or permanent fire pits constructed of stone, masonry, metal or other noncombustible material that conforms with all applicable South Carolina fire codes), Forestry Commission officials urge the utmost caution burning outdoors under these exemptions.

Likewise, citizens should exercise extreme vigilance operating any equipment that could create sparks, avoid parking on dry grass and refrain from using fireworks.

The ban will stay in effect until further notice, which will come in the form of an official announcement from the Forestry Commission.

A huge shoutout to Broadway Fire Department for allowing our Homeland Park Junior Firefighters to get inside their maze and put in some real work. This wasn’t just training — this was about building confidence, discipline, and the mindset it takes to operate when things get tough.

Crawling through tight spaces.
Elevated stress.
That’s where growth happens.

This is how you build firefighters — not just skills, but grit.

We’re proud of every junior who showed up, pushed through, and got after it. And we’re thankful for strong partnerships like this that help shape the future of the fire service.

STATEWIDE BURNING BAN IN EFFECT – PLEASE READ

The South Carolina Forestry Commission has issued a Statewide Burning Ban, effective today at 4:00 PM, due to extremely dangerous fire conditions across the state.

What this means:
All outdoor burning is PROHIBITED, including:
• Yard debris burning
• Prescribed burning
• Campfires & bonfires
• Any open burning in unincorporated areas

Allowed:
• Cooking fires (grills, smokers, etc.)
• Fires in approved enclosures (fire pits, chimineas, outdoor fireplaces) that meet fire code

Why this matters:
We are currently facing:
• Very low humidity (below 20%)
• Extremely dry fuels
• Gusty winds

These conditions mean any fire can start fast, spread rapidly, and become difficult to control.

From Homeland Park Fire Department:
We are asking everyone to take this seriously. One small fire can quickly turn into a large incident that puts lives, homes, and our firefighters at risk.

This is not just a restriction — it’s about protecting our community.

Please help us by:
• Holding off on any outdoor burning
• Monitoring anything that could spark a fire
• Reporting smoke or fire immediately

The ban will remain in place until further notice.

"In addition to the intensifying drought conditions, the weather we’re going to see statewide over the next several days makes it ripe for any fire that starts to burn intensely and move fast,” SCFC Fire Chief Darryl Jones said. "While these conditions can make wildfires ignite easily anywhere and make it more challenging for firefighters to contain, we’re really concerned about areas where events like Hurricane Helene and recent ice damage have led to higher amounts of fuel. This burning ban is necessary to limit ignitions to the maximum extent possible to prevent severe wildfires for public safety purposes."

The ban will stay in effect until further notice, which will come in the form of an official announcement from the Forestry Commission.

The members of Homeland Park Fire had a busy day today, starting with two auto-aid calls assisting our neighbors at Broadway Fire.

Around lunchtime, Anderson City Fire was dispatched to a woods fire in the area of Highway 28 Bypass near Walmart. Crews arrived to find approximately one acre of wooded area involved. Due to the location being within Homeland Park’s district, Station 3 and the South Carolina Forestry Commission were requested to assist. Personnel from Anderson City Fire worked alongside members of Station 3 to bring the fire under control, establishing a fire break around the affected area.

While crews were still operating at the woods fire, Station 3 was toned out on auto-aid to assist Center Rock Fire with an incident at the airport.

As the day continued, crews responded to several additional calls within the district, including an incident involving a patient trapped under a vehicle. Crews arrived quickly and were able to lift the vehicle, allowing EMS access to remove and treat the patient.

Strong work by our members today and a great example of teamwork alongside our surrounding departments. This is what the fire service is about—showing up, working together, and getting the job done.
