🚨Stolen Bicycle Recovered 🚲

Earlier this week, AUPD took a report of a 9-year-old girl’s bicycle being stolen. Surveillance video from Wednesday captured a grown man taking the bike and riding away.

Yes. A grown man. On a little girl’s bicycle. We’ll let you picture that one. 😭🚲

Today, while off duty and riding his personal bicycle, Officer Savage spotted a bicycle matching the description of the stolen bike being ridden near E. 8th Street and Fremont Drive.

Officer Savage stopped and made contact with the individual and conducted an investigation. The grandmother of the 9-year-old owner came to the scene and confirmed that it was her granddaughter’s stolen bicycle.

The bicycle was successfully recovered and returned to the family. The circumstances surrounding its possession remain under investigation.

🚨 BILLBOARD RESCUE 🚨

If you were on Facebook today, you probably already saw this one. 👀

An AUPD officer was first on scene after a subject climbed on top of a billboard along Scatterfield Road. We assisted Anderson City Police and Anderson Fire as they worked to safely bring the individual down, with AFD ultimately making the assist via ladder truck. 🪜🚒

Thankfully, everything ended safely.

Not exactly on today’s bingo card, but here we are. 🤷‍♂️

Great teamwork by everyone involved. 👏

As fall begins and daylight hours grow shorter, more students will be walking around campus after dark.

Stay in well-lit areas, remain aware of your surroundings, and avoid letting headphones block out everything happening around you. Walk with someone when possible, keep your phone accessible, and trust your instincts if something does not feel right.

Contact AUPD at 765-641-3333 if you need assistance or notice suspicious activity.

Call 911 for an immediate emergency.

TRAFFIC TIP TUESDAY 🚦(on Wednesday because we were so busy we forgot to post on Tuesday 😜)

A yellow traffic light means prepare to stop when it is safe, not accelerate and hope for the best. For some of you, this is just a review. For others, it’s the very first time you’ve heard about this 😂

Leave enough following distance to stop smoothly, especially near campus crosswalks and intersections. Rushing through a changing light saves very little time and creates unnecessary risk for drivers and pedestrians.

Slow down. Stay alert. Arrive safely.

When you call AUPD, start with where you are, what’s happening, and whether anyone is hurt or in immediate danger. The person taking your call may ask a few more questions to help determine the response.

Stay on the line when possible, and let us know if the situation changes. You don’t need to have every detail figured out before you call.
