🚔 Tonight, AUPD officers are spending the evening in department training.

Training is a huge part of what we do and helps make sure our officers are prepared for the wide variety of situations we may encounter on campus. Whether it’s reviewing laws and policies, practicing real-world scenarios, or working on communication and response skills, regular training helps us stay sharp and continue providing the best service possible to the Anderson University community.

A lot of police work happens behind the scenes, and training nights like this are an important part of keeping our officers ready when they’re needed most.

🚨 AUPD Traffic Stop of the Morning 🚨

At approximately 8:00 AM today, Sgt. Holtzleiter stopped a driver in the 100 block of Scatterfield Road after clocking them at 78 MPH in a 40 MPH zone.

During the stop, the driver questioned AUPD’s authority to make the stop.

We’re always happy to help educate. The good news is the driver left with a much better understanding of university police jurisdiction.

The bad news is that lesson may have come with some paperwork.

Scatterfield Road is many things. An airport runway is not one of them.

In case anyone is wondering, AUPD is not on summer break 👀

Campus is a little too quiet these days…

🚨 AUPD Patrol Update 🚨

Sergeant Caswell observed a vehicle speeding down University Blvd this afternoon and had to put in a little work to finally catch up near the 1600 block of East 8th Street. 🏁

During the investigation, Sgt. Caswell found

Driving while suspended prior 📄

Driving While Suspended Prior is a criminal misdemeanor offense in Indiana that applies when someone continues driving after already having a prior suspension-related conviction. Depending on the circumstances, it can carry fines, additional suspension time, and possible jail time. Probably not the bonus feature anyone wants added to a traffic stop. 🚓

Commencement is one of the most important days of the year on our campus, and AUPD was proud to have officers out in large numbers throughout the day helping with traffic control, parking, pedestrian safety, and event operations.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our students, families, and guests as they celebrated this milestone achievement.
