**SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS WEEK**

What a meaningful way to begin our school year!

This year, we began the school year a little differently, setting aside our traditional Camp School experience for **Spiritual Emphasis Week**. From Tuesday through Thursday, our students participated in multiple chapel services each day and then gathered in mentor groups to discuss, reflect on, and apply the messages they heard.

Throughout the week, our speakers challenged our students to keep Christ at the center:

**What Are You Living For?** — Choose Christ as the center of your life.
**Christ Magnified** — Make Jesus visible through your choices, words, and actions.
**Fruitful Labor** — Use your opportunities and abilities faithfully for Christ and live a life that matters.
**Others Before Self** — Encourage, include, and invest in others.
**Whatever Happens** — Trust Christ even when life is hard.
**Stand Firm Together** — Commit to unity and work together for the Gospel.

We are so thankful for the opportunity to begin this school year with our hearts and minds focused on Christ. Our prayer is that these messages will continue to shape how our students **live, serve, encourage one another, and stand firm together** throughout the year.

A special thank you to **Mr. King, Mr. Plew, Mr. Luttrull, Mr. Worsham, Mr. VanDyne, and Pastor Stevens** for investing in our students and challenging them to live lives that point others to Christ.

**“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31**

Safety Drills at ICA

Yesterday, our students and staff practiced three important emergency drills: fire, tornado, and active intruder drills.

These drills give our students and staff the opportunity to practice responding calmly, quickly, and safely during an emergency.

During our tornado drill, students moved to designated interior hallway areas for protection from severe weather.

We’re grateful to our students and staff for taking each drill seriously and helping make safety a priority at ICA! 🧡

Welcome back students! We can't wait to see what God has for you in 2026-2027! Praying for a great year.

ICA Parents,

Due to the flooding and unsafe travel conditions, there will be no in-person orientation today.

Instead, we will be sending out an orientation post with a video on ParentSquare that will provide the information you need for the start of the school year. Please watch ParentSquare for that post later today.

We are praying for each of our ICA families during this flooding and asking the Lord to protect you, give you wisdom, and keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

I’m thankful to live in a country that has enjoyed so much freedom and opportunity. America isn’t perfect, and it never has been, but I’m grateful for the principles upon which it was founded.

One thing I hope we never forget is the influence Christianity had on many of our founders. While they didn’t all believe exactly the same, they understood that our rights come from God—not from government. That truth helped shape our nation.

If you’ve ever visited Washington, D.C., you’ve probably noticed that Scripture and references to God are woven throughout our nation’s capital. From Bible verses engraved in monuments to biblical themes found in our most important buildings, the evidence is there for anyone willing to look. Those reminders point to the foundation that has influenced our country from the beginning.

As we celebrate 250 years, my prayer is simple: that America would continue to seek the Lord. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

Happy Independence Day, and happy 250th birthday to the United States of America. May we never take our freedoms—or the God who has blessed them—for granted.

One of the greatest lessons we can teach our children is that character matters.

Young Washington is more than a movie about an American president—it’s the story of a young man whose integrity, courage, humility, perseverance, and sense of duty were shaped long before he became the leader history remembers.

As parents and educators, we spend a great deal of time helping our students grow academically. Just as important is helping them grow into men and women of strong character. This film provides a great opportunity to have those conversations together as a family.

If you go see it, don’t let the discussion end when the credits roll. Ask your children:

* What qualities stood out in George Washington?
* What challenges helped shape his character?
* How can we demonstrate those same qualities in our daily lives?
* How does biblical character influence the way we lead and serve others?

At Indiana Christian Academy, our desire is to partner with families in developing students who not only know the truth but also live it. Young Washington is a worthwhile reminder that leadership begins with character—and character is developed one faithful decision at a time.

If your family has the chance, I’d encourage you to go see it together.

At Indiana Christian Academy, we believe students need more than facts and dates. They need a deep understanding of the people, principles, sacrifices, and faith that helped shape our nation. Studying history equips young people to think critically, engage thoughtfully, and appreciate the freedoms and responsibilities they have inherited.

As a Christian school, we are committed to helping students understand history through a lens of truth, character, and God’s providential work throughout human events. When students know where they came from, they are better prepared to lead with wisdom and conviction in the future.

If you’re looking for a great summer read, I highly recommend David McCullough’s 1776. It is a compelling account of one of the most pivotal years in American history and a powerful reminder of the courage, perseverance, and leadership that helped secure our nation’s independence.

History matters. Let’s make sure the next generation knows the story.
