Statewide, 59% of South Carolina third graders meet expectations in math. By sixth grade it's 41%.

Scores went up this year, across the board. The drop off in the middle grades happened anyway.

Usually that's not a middle school problem. It's a fraction, a ratio, a negative number from two years back that never got solid. It sat there until the work got hard enough to expose it.

So, that's what we go looking for. We don't tutor "math." We find the specific thing that didn't stick and we teach it.

South Carolina’s math scores improved this year, and that is worth celebrating! But the new 𝐒𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐘 results also show that fewer than half of middle school students met or exceeded expectations in math:

Grade 8: 𝟒𝟒.𝟐%

Learn Upstate’s Italy learning experience is officially underway, and we are now filling the remaining spots for this trip.

Families have already committed, and we’re building a small, focused group for an immersive educational experience through Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples, and Pompeii.

Students will:
• Walk through ancient Rome and the Colosseum
• Explore Pompeii
• Study art and architecture in Florence
• Experience culture through food, movement, and guided learning

This is a structured, educator-led experience designed to help students connect deeply with history, culture, and the world around them.

Because this is a group-based experience, once spots are filled, we won’t be able to add more students.
