Well, it’s been quite some time since we have had anything to report! I wanted to provide an update so you would know where we are and where we are going.
First, for the 2021-22 school year, there is still a lot of uncertainty about what is coming. While things seem normal right now, it isn’t hard to see that we are not headed in a positive direction in regards to the virus. I anticipate that subs will still be an issue. That fact, coupled with the amount of trainers still being trained, has led me to the decision that I will be the only one teaching courses. Of course the interns will get Foundations 1, and depending on the sub issue I may offer Foundations 2 as well. In the spring, there is the possibility of a few one day sessions.
During this year, I will be meeting with all the trainers to work on relaunching our program in the 2022 school year. We have been active since 1981, and it’s time for an update! We are going to explore some blended courses and other ideas to make your professional learning experiences relevant and engaging. AFT PL 2.0!
Finally, I would like to thank all the trainers for their hard work. They have already put in countless hours and will be putting in even more behind the scenes hours this year!

"I have this poster in the front of my room and I model questions for the students. 'Who wants to know where the 2 came from?' 'Who wants to know why I subtracted instead of added?' And my favorite: 'Who wants me to explain this differently?'"
Educator Michelle Manning uses this form to encourage students to stop saying "I don't know" – and to start asking questions!

Teacher friends...... This is a great idea. Mount your tissue box under a shelf so that your students don’t have to handle the box to get a tissue.
I saw this on Pinterest and thought some could use this during these crazy times. đź’—
To make this work, you’ll need an under-the-shelf storage basket and a pair of needle-nose pliers or wire cutters to cut a gap for the tissues.
Under-the-shelf storage basket like the one pictured. 👇🏼
