Everybody please show this little cowgirl some love.đź’š

A couple weeks ago she came in for her 1st lesson. I started out the way I normally do. Teaching. encouraging, discussing boundaries and safety. More importantly, showing the rider their strengths when they cannot yet see them.

But this time was different. Things did not flow as they usually do. I watched her struggle, I watched her try for almost an hour to fight through her fear enough to throw that leg over Jasper. But she couldn’t. She didn’t. The fear won.

I felt sad, defeated, and beat myself up for failing her.

Today she came back for her 2nd lesson.

Today I watched her step in with boots, leggings, green t-shirt, and enough confidence to knock ya on ur ass.

She brushed. I saddled. We walked into the arena with Jasper. She got on. She rode. She defeated her fear and she loved it. I watched her and Jasper ride like they have known each other their entire life. It was beautiful.

I am proud of her.

I am proud of Jasper.

And I am proud of myself.

Let this be a lesson to us, that when life tries to knock you down and tell you to quit, tells you you’re not good enough, don’t listen. Keep showing up. Keep going.

Good things in life don’t come easy, that’s why God makes ya wait.

I’m excited to see where her new found talent takes her. Stay tuned. 💚
