Giant Parade Puppets
Make your own giant puppet or choose to work as a team and create moveable puppets ready for any parade or fesitval.

June 8-12
Alaska City Folk Arts Camp
BP Teacher of Excellence Mary Schallert leads Anchorage’s longest-running folk

Summer on the Trails
It’s a week of outdoor adventure! You may find yourself climbing some mountains and hiking some trails. We’ll start each day at Baxter Elementary and have a new adventure every day.

June 15-19
Mud Week
Feel the earth beneath your feet and the soil between your hands. Get ready to get dirty as we build clay objects, explore silt beds, and run through sand dunes.

June 22-26
Strings Camp
Join Mary Schallert for a week of music skills training. For beginning and intermediate musicians of bowed instruments, enjoy small group and individualized learning. Ages 7-12.

Geocaching and Alaska Rocks
Take it AND leave it as you learn the skill of geocaching. Explore local wilderness
and decorate small stones to hide for others.

June 29-July 2 (no camp July 3)
Weird Science
Experiment with chemicals, heat, fire and more as we learn the strange things
we can do with science.

July 6-10
Wood, Wax and Wool
Explore various materials to create art. New projects every day or work on a big
project that takes all week!

Fibers Week
Dye wool, make your own knitting needles. Learn to knit and felt. Wool projects all week long!

July 13-17
Street Art
Watch a graffiti artist in action, then try it yourself. Be a guerilla knitter and wrap trees with fibers. Take art outside and into the world around you.

July 20-24
Urban Survival Skills
Make tools. Build a fire, build a hut, build a pizza oven.Whittle, carve, and build what you would need to survive.

July 27-31Theatre and Drama
Write a play, design the costumes, build the set, and perform it all on Friday for your families and friends.

August 3-7
Magic Academy
Magician Don Russel will bring his Magic Academy to AWS. Learn magic tricks plus performance skills to put on your own show. Each camper will receive
their own magic kit full of tricks and supplies to take home. We’ll end the week with a magic show for families and friends.
