For those who have not already heard, the UAA Testing Center has officially closed and is no longer providing testing services: https://ftllc.co/4wOs7VT

This is especially concerning because UAA was the only location in Anchorage offering national ACT testing.

This morning we spoke with the test administration team at ACT and they're working to get us more information about the situation, but what we do know is that currently no other facilities have applied to become testing centers in Anchorage yet. The process involves the facility reaching out to ACT directly to apply and go through the process of becoming a National Testing Center, but ACT is also going to try and reach out to locations in Anchorage who might be willing to become testing centers as well.

We're continuing to reach out to local schools over the next few days to try and see if any will volunteer to proctor upcoming ACTs, but because it is still summer it may be several weeks before we know whether ACT testing will be available in Anchorage this fall.

For students who were planning to take the ACTs and who are not in a position to wait and see what happens, here are the immediate options which are available:

🛫Travel to another testing location🛫

Homer, Juneau, and Fairbanks currently have seats available for fall ACT dates. Juneau has the greatest availability, with two separate testing centers.

🧑‍🏫Request arranged testing🧑‍🏫

Students may request an individually arranged ACT administration, although the eligibility requirements are fairly strict. There must be no available testing center within 75 miles of Anchorage through next July, and the student must find a school official or other qualified test coordinator willing to proctor the exam.

📃Consider switching to the SAT📃

Students who have not already done so may take a free practice SAT through Frontier Tutoring to determine whether their SAT scores are comparable to—or stronger than—their ACT performance: https://ftllc.co/44qqL7w

We will also provide a free meeting to review each student’s results and discuss which test may be the better fit. Colleges accept the SAT and ACT equally, so there is generally no reason to favor one test unless a student performs meaningfully better on it or has another specific preference.'

Following a review of institutional needs and utilization, upcoming changes will be made to testing center operations over the summer 2026 term.

🚨 HEADS UP ANCHORAGE FAMILIES! 🚨 We wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that the June 6th, 2026 SAT test has no remaining seats available in Anchorage or the surrounding areas!

If your student is a junior this year and has not yet taken the SATs, it's crucial to watch the Collegeboard website (https://ftllc.co/4njg4fm) for when the fall test dates open for registration. Generally students should aim to complete testing and have their scores by November 1st of their senior year to allow for early application deadlines. Due to the limited number of test dates and the high demand we've observed, especially in Alaska, we strongly advise registering as soon as possible when those dates become available! Some dates have been filling up as early as two months in advance.

A cool opportunity was just announced for Alaskan students who want to become attorneys! This new partnership will let students complete a bachelors through University of Alaska Fairbanks and a JD through Mitchell Hamline School of Law in just 6 years! Students can also choose to spend the majority of their time studying for their JD here in Alaska and only need travel down to Minnesota a few times a year if they prefer!

President and Dean Camille Davidson signed a 3+3 partnership agreement with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which provides Alaskan students an opportunity to complete their bachelor’s and J.D. degrees in six years rather than seven—three years at UAF followed by three years at .

Through the blended-learning enrollment option, UAF students can choose to remain in for much of their law school experience, traveling to Minnesota only a few times per year, or they may complete their studies entirely on campus. First-year law school credits count toward the undergraduate degree, saving time and tuition.
