It's been a very long time. . . 12/13/2021

It's been waaaaaaaay too long since I've been active on FB and on my blog. 🤦🏻‍♀️. So I'm trying to get back in the saddle. Here's a new blog post. . .only took me 2 years 🤷🏻‍♀️.

It's been a very long time. . . Conversation with myself: "I should really get back into blogging." "You think that every so often, but never do." "I know, but I'm busy."...

President's Day Readers' Theater 01/26/2019

I love creating non-fiction Readers' Theater scripts because I love researching the subject and learning more about it! Here's my latest, just in time for President's Day next month.

President's Day Readers' Theater This 5-page non-fiction script teaches students a bit about each famously important leader while allowing them to maintain and improve their fluency at the same time. The three characters are: kid, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Pig the Pug Readers' Theater PACK 11/14/2018

I discovered a new book series last week and am in LOVE with it's attention-seeking main character: Pig the Pug. I've adapted each of the 6 books into a 2 page readers' theater script and can't wait to use it with my students to help improve their fluency!

Pig the Pug Readers' Theater PACK Pig the Pug is a rude, bratty, attention-seeking dog who (in each book) learns a lesson about how his behavior affects others. Aaron Blabey wrote the books in the series and I've adapted them into short Readers' Theater scripts. The funny, 2-page scripts in this pack will get your

TLF Chapter 1: Keep the Peace 10/15/2018

Do you know what 'Rauha' means in Finnish? And there are many different kinds of 'Rauha'! My mind has been blown. . .

TLF Chapter 1: Keep the Peace Fast forward from sunny, green-grassy August days when school wasn't in session to brisk, leaf-strewn October days when the end of the fir...

TLF Chapter 1: Get Into the Wild 08/02/2018

Bring nature into your classroom or bring your class out into nature. Research says it's a good thing. . .

TLF Chapter 1: Get Into the Wild Ever heard of ADD? Of course, we (teachers) have heard of it, dealt with it and know it when we see it even though we are not allowed to r...

TLF: Chapter 1 Breathe Fresh Air 07/20/2018

Today I smelled fresh cut grass and cedar. Didn't have a chance to stop and smell any roses though. . .

TLF: Chapter 1 Breathe Fresh Air I tend to be hot in my classroom when I’m teaching. I rarely sit at my desk and am instead up and down and all about. I cannot, for examp...

TLF: Chapter 1 Simplify the Space 07/19/2018

Setting up my classroom at the beginning of the school year is one of my favorite things! That setup sets a tone for your academic year for both you and your students. Keeping it simple can be a benefit to your student's academic achievement and less stress for you.

TLF: Chapter 1 Simplify the Space Think about the four walls of your classroom. Think of three adjectives that best describe those walls. I would say: cute, functional, tid...

TLF: Chapter 1 Recharge After School 07/17/2018

We teachers will readily admit we spend TOO much of our own time (before & after school and at home) doing our job. The standard school day doesn't allow for enough time to plan and prepare everything we need to do. But recharging your teacher batteries is very important. . .

TLF: Chapter 1 Recharge After School How much time do you spend, at the school where you teach, planning and preparing for your students . . .outside of your workday? How ...

Thematic Word Wall Folders 07/11/2018

This project has been on my "To Do" list all year and now that it's summer I finally got it done and can't wait to put them at my Writing Station this coming year!

Thematic Word Wall Folders Creating independent writers involves, among other things, modeling, boosting self-confidence and providing resources for students to use when they get stuck. The covers and word lists in this pack should be printed out, adhered to manila folders, laminated and made available to your
