🌸March is National Women’s History Month🌸

What began as Women’s History Week in 1982 was expanded by Congress in 1987 to recognize the full month of March as a time to honor the contributions of women in American history.

Across rural Alaska and throughout our state, women are leading in business, education, nonprofit work, public service, and thought leadership. Their influence strengthens communities and moves Alaska forward.

This month, we recognize the women who carry responsibility with strength and integrity. Alaska is better because of you.🏔️

🌟 Celebrating Girls on the Run of Greater Alaska! 🌟

Across Alaska — from Angoon to Utqiagvik, Homer to Fairbanks, and communities in between, Girls on the Run of Greater Alaska is inspiring young girls to discover strength they didn’t know they had.

👟 This program builds confidence, fosters connection, and teaches life skills that last well beyond the season and 97% of participants learn skills like resolving conflict, helping others, and making intentional decisions. Girls who started with low activity levels increase their physical activity by an average of 40%.

With 15 locations, dozens of dedicated volunteer coaches, and thousands of girls served, Girls on the Run is creating supportive spaces where every girl can be joyful, healthy, and confident.

💛 Whether you’re cheering on a 5K finisher, volunteering, or spreading the word the word, you’re helping girls across Alaska step into their potential!
