We care and advocate for Alaska's wild birds through rehabilitation, education and outreach.

Bird TLC has been caring for Alaska’s wild birds since 1988 when Dr. James R. Scott, DVM, began treating sick and injured birds at his veterinary clinic. Since then, we have grown to become Alaska’s busiest rehabilitation clinic, taking in approximately 600 birds a year from across the state. In addition to rehabilitating wild birds, we offer interactive, science-based education programs to schools, community organizations, and tour groups.

Ambassador Culuk welcomes the 2026 Avian Teen Crew!

This is our largest group of avian-loving teens yet, with many of them returning for their second, third, and even fourth years! We're inspired by these young adults who dedicate their summers to being part of our education team. At public programs, they help us teach others about Alaska's wild birds and the importance of protecting them and their habitats. They also assist with the daily tasks of ambassador bird care, including cleaning enclosures, preparing diets, and making enrichment items. These teens are truly the next generation of conservationists. Please help us, and Ambassador Culuk, welcome them!

Please meet our newest patients and first orphaned waterbirds of 2026: a Mallard and a Northern Pintail duckling.

The Mallard’s day took a bad turn when he fell into a storm drain. Luckily, compassionate witnesses noticed his plight and fished him out (thank you!). While we don’t know how the Pintail found himself orphaned, we’re glad he was also rescued by caring people.

Can you tell which duckling is the Mallard and which is the Pintail?
