Bird Treatment & Learning Center We care and advocate for Alaska's wild birds through rehabilitation, education and outreach.

Bird TLC has been caring for Alaska’s wild birds since 1988 when Dr. James R. Scott, DVM, began treating sick and injured birds at his veterinary clinic. Since then, we have grown to become Alaska’s busiest rehabilitation clinic, taking in approximately 600 birds a year from across the state. In addition to rehabilitating wild birds, we offer interactive, science-based education programs to schools, community organizations, and tour groups.

Patient No. 26-480: When a juvenile American Goshawk allows itself to be easily picked up, swaddled in a hoodie, and held until Bird TLC staff arrive, you know she's not feeling great.

She was found in midtown on Friday, unable to fly. Initially, she was very subdued, but she is starting to show a bit of attitude, which is what we want. We did not find any fractures, so we are treating her for head trauma. While her prognosis is still guarded, we are hopeful for her full recovery.
