Designed for Grades 4-8, our mission is to inspire children to engage with math, nurture problem-solving abilities and foster critical thinking skills.

Come unlock the magic of mathematical thinking while solving problems creatively and cooperatively. This year we will only be meeting on Tuesday evenings, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, still at Winterberry Charter School. If there is high demand, we may open up a second session earlier in the day.

Instead of paying $30 for the summer, we are asking for $5 per person per session. Payments may be made with cash, check made out to Mary Alexander, or venmo -Alexander-116.

Please indicate which dates you are reserving when making your payment, so we know which sessions are still available for others.

Schedule of Topics:
June 16 - Game Theory
June 23 - Thinking Like a Computer
July 7 - Code Breaking
July 14 - Slope Ropes
July 28 - Feats of Logic
August 4 - Festival of Fractions

Each session is designed to help strengthen students' existing math skills, while expanding their mathematical tool boxes.

Please feel free to message with any questions you may have.

It’s gonna be a fun math club session this week: Bubbling Cauldrons! Place numbers into the cauldrons in ascending order. However if two numbers add up to a third number in the same cauldron, they bubble over and cause an explosion. The goal is to find the largest number we can place in our cauldrons without having them explode!

One of our favorite math games for camping is Math Match. This game is cheap ($10) and great for building confidence. This game may show up at a meeting this summer! Link in the comments.

We are excited to announce that Number Ninja Math Club AK is part of the Math Circle Network. The mission of the Math Circle Network, a project of the American Institute of Mathematics (AIM), is to build, connect, and support local communities focused on the enjoyment of mathematics. AIM is one of the nine mathematical institutes in the US, funded through the National Science Foundation. Joining this network has allowed us to have direct support from other Math Circles, access to quality resources for students, and support from AIM.

A lot of our curriculum this summer will focus on the foundations of mathematical thinking, as well as improving elementary and pre-Algebra math skills. If you're interested in joining our Math Club this summer, please comment below and we can send you info on how to register. We invite all abilities in Grades 4-8 to join us in celebrating math.

We are a parent-led volunteer math club aimed at inspiring youth to love math. Our math club is all about inclusivity and support for everyone! Whether you're a math whiz or just starting to explore the world of numbers, our club welcomes those in Grades 4-8 with open arms. We believe that every student has the potential to excel in math, and we're here to provide a supportive environment where everyone can learn and grow together. Join us for a fun and inclusive math journey where every participant's success is celebrated!

We have 8-weeks of fun planned for grades 4-8. If your child is in 3rd grade now, they are eligible to participate.

Each week is a standalone session. Therefore, if you skip a session or two, you won’t be behind and you’ll still be getting some math over the summer. Of course, the more you attend, the more you’ll get out of it. We designed it so that it’s flexible for families to enjoy the summer, while still helping kids retain and grow their math skills.

This is Melissa’s second year of hosting Number Ninjas math club. This year, Mary is joining in the fun, so we can have two sessions weekly. Both sessions have the same weekly material.

The club is $30, which covers the material/snacks and insurance costs of the 8-weeks of math fun. Scholarships are available. Mary and I are donating our time to the community to bring this club to you!
