The Pacific Ocean Division of the Corps of Engineers confirmed that it received requests to appeal the Pebble mine permit denial this week from both the Pebble Limited Partnership and the State of Alaska. It's the first time the state has appealed such a decision.

Interested in the docs or public comments posted at the Corps of Engineers Pebble site, www.pebbleprojecteis.com? The Alaska District has confirmed that the site will come down at the end of this year since the official EIS process culminated on November 24 with release of the Record of Decision (ROD). The Corps is planning to make the final EIS and ROD documents available at a different site.
The documents library and other detailed information may not be migrated. This consists of nearly 300 RFIs (Request for Information) and more than 2000 supporting documents used during the development of the EIS.

Besides the compensatory mitigation plan, the U.S. Corps of Engineers has to square away some other items before it will finalize a Record of Decision on the Pebble mine. That includes ongoing formal consultation with federal agencies related to the Endangered Species Act, which is not expected to be completed until mid-January 2021.
