Clark Middle School

Good morning, Clark Middle School families and staff,

Clark Middle School will be open today, running on generator power only, because of a power outage in the area. We’re working with our partners at Chugach Electric, and repairs are expected to be finished late this evening so the school should be fully operational on Monday.

Due to the outage, phone and internet may have blackouts as repairs continue.

We’ll share updates if anything changes. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Don’t forget to change your clocks this weekend as we fall back for daylight saving time. We’ll see you on Monday.

Good afternoon, Mountain View Elementary, Tyson Elementary, and Clark Middle School Families,

We want to update you on the situation that happened this morning involving a large police presence in the Mountain View area that resulted in our schools being put in Secure status.

APD has taken down their perimeter, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Mountain View Elementary and Tyson Elementary are out of Secure status and back in normal operations.

Clark Middle School remains closed and will not offer after-school activities.

As a reminder, there is no school district-wide on Friday because of an already scheduled in-service day.

Update on Ongoing Police Activity:

Our partners with the Anchorage Police Department (APD) are continuing their investigation in the area. APD expects to remain on scene for several hours and is asking everyone to avoid the area until the investigation is complete.

Thank you to Bird Treatment and Learning Center (Bird TLC) for visiting an exploratory careers class at Clark Middle School! Students learned about our mascot, the peregrine falcon and got to see one up close and personal. Did you know it's the fastest animal on the planet (topping out at 240 mph)?!

So many wonderful businesses and volunteers helped to make this year's 9th annual Clothesline Project a huge success. This year was a record-breaker for attendance with 1,400 people coming through! Thank you Anchorage Cops for Community for organizing such a powerful event and serving the community. There were many smiles as people were leaving and the hard work and coordination to put on such a large event is commendable! Thank you to Officer Jon Butler, the Anchorage Police Department, and to all of the businesses and volunteers for supporting our families!
