What a fun and busy week at ANCCS! Our students were learning, growing, creating, and connecting all week long. 💙

Harvesting with Mr. Wayne
Our students got their hands in the dirt and spent time harvesting potatoes with Mr. Wayne! A great opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences.

Building Community in 5th Grade
Our 5th graders kicked off the year by working through team challenges designed to build trust, communication, and a strong classroom community. They also began lessons centered around their grade-level cultural focus: Iñupiaq culture. We’re excited to see how their learning grows throughout the year!

Middle School Novel Study
Our middle school students jumped right into their first novel study of the year! We’re excited to see where their reading and discussions take them.

Welcome, Kindergarten!
Wednesday was a big day as we welcomed our Kindergarten students to ANCCS! We are so happy to have our youngest learners officially join us.

Berry Picking at Arctic Valley
We wrapped up the week with a beautiful berry-picking trip to Arctic Valley. Time outside, time together, and plenty of berries made for a pretty great Friday!

And while we were away…
The ANSEP students stopped by and surprised us with the most beautiful and creative chalk art! What a fun welcome back and what a great way to brighten our entrance and make us smile as we came into the building.

CITC is hiring parents of Alaska Native/American Indian students enrolled in K-3 to be Educational Assistants at ANCCS or Susitna Elementary. Educational assistants collaborate with teachers and families to strengthen the home-school connection and increase parent engagement in students' academic success.

📋 Qualifications
- Parent of an Alaska Native/American Indian student enrolled in K-3 at ANCCS or Susitna Elementary
- High school diploma or GED

💼 Job Details
- $20 - $24 hourly
- 20 hours a week
- 36 weeks of employment
- Part-time, regular CITC employee

🎉 First Day Back at ANCCS! 🎉

What a wonderful first day of school at Alaska Native Cultural Charter School! 💙

We started the day with our Yuuyaraq Gathering, where ANCCS students welcomed the new school year with a Yuraq – Yuugiyama Ullagamken purification song. What a beautiful and meaningful way to begin our year together, rooted in culture, tradition, and connection.

It was so good to see so many familiar faces and to welcome our new students into the ANCCS school family! We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, culture, connection, and lots of great memories.

Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!
