Dear Bayshore Families,
We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school next week! Our staff have been working hard to prepare our building and classrooms for students’ arrival. Teachers are setting up welcoming learning spaces, preparing engaging lessons and activities, reviewing safety procedures, and collaborating as a team to ensure a positive and successful start to the school year. There is a wonderful energy in the building as we prepare for another year of learning, growing, and Soaring to New Heights!
As we get ready for the start of school, please take a few minutes to review the important information and upcoming dates below.
1. Open House – Monday, August 17 | 4:30–6:00 p.m.
We are looking forward to welcoming all Bayshore families to our Open House on Monday, August 17, from 4:30–6:00 p.m. Please join us in the gym from 4:30–4:45 p.m. for staff introductions, a welcome message, and important announcements. Following the introductions, families are invited to visit classrooms, meet teachers and staff, explore our learning spaces, and help students become familiar with their classrooms and school routines before the first day of school. We hope you can join us!
2. Front Office Closed – Tuesday, August 18 | 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Please note that our front office will be closed on Tuesday, August 18, from 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. while our staff participate in professional development. Thank you for your understanding as we dedicate this time to professional learning and preparation for the new school year.
3. First Days of School
Grades 1–6: Wednesday, August 19, 2026
Kindergarten: Wednesday, August 26, 2026
We are excited to welcome our students back and begin another great year at Bayshore!
4. Kindergarten Academy – August 24 & 25
Just as we have done in previous years, our incoming kindergarten students will have an opportunity to participate in Kindergarten Academy before their official first day of school.
Monday, August 24: 9:15–11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, August 25: 8:15–10:30 a.m.
We strongly encourage our new kindergarten students to participate. Kindergarten Academy provides a gentle introduction to the school day and gives students an opportunity to become comfortable with their teachers, classmates, classrooms, routines, and school environment before their first full day.
5. i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments
Beginning August 24, teachers will start administering the i-Ready Math Diagnostic Assessment. The diagnostic provides teachers with valuable information about each student's current strengths and areas for growth. Teachers use this information to better understand individual learning needs, plan instruction, and provide appropriate support and enrichment. We encourage families to remind students that the diagnostic is not something they need to study for. We simply want students to take their time, try their best, and show us what they know. Classroom teachers will provide additional information about the assessments in their newsletters.
6. Coffee, Cookies & Kleenex for Kindergarten Families
The Bayshore PTA is excited to welcome our incoming kindergarten families with Coffee, Cookies & Kleenex from 8:00–8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26. After dropping off your kindergartner for their first day, please join us in the Bayshore Library. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other kindergarten families, learn more about Bayshore, connect with our PTA, ask questions, and discover ways to become involved in our school community. Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone for both children and families, and we are so excited to have you as part of the Bayshore community!
7. Bayshore PTA General Meeting – Thursday, August 27 | 6:30–7:30 p.m.
Our first Bayshore PTA General Meeting of the school year will be held on Thursday, August 27, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. in the Bayshore Library. Families may attend in person or via Zoom. Our PTA is an important partner in supporting our students, staff, and school community. Throughout the year, the PTA helps provide enrichment opportunities, family events, classroom and school support, and many of the special experiences that help make Bayshore such a wonderful place for students. Whether you have a lot of time to volunteer or simply want to learn more about what is happening at our school, we encourage you to attend. Everyone is welcome, and there are many different ways to get involved. We hope to see many of you there!
8. Standard Response Protocol (SRP) Drills – Friday, August 28
Student and staff safety continues to be one of our highest priorities. We will conduct our first Standard Response Protocol (SRP) drills on Friday, August 28. Throughout the school year, students and staff practice age-appropriate emergency procedures so everyone knows what to do during a variety of situations. These drills help students become familiar with procedures that may be used during medical emergencies, potential safety threats, earthquakes, and other emergency situations. Our goal is to build students' knowledge and confidence so they can follow adult directions and respond safely and appropriately during an emergency. Teachers and staff will support students throughout these drills and help them understand that practicing safety procedures is an important part of keeping our school community safe.
Our staff are excited to welcome students back into the building and begin another wonderful year together. Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and trust. A strong connection between home and school makes a tremendous difference for our students, and we look forward to working alongside you throughout the year.
Have a wonderful weekend, and we hope to see you at the Open House on Monday!
