Walk by a classroom at Anchorage Waldorf School and the chalkboard will tell you exactly what the children have been learning. A carefully drawn map for a geography lesson. A botanical illustration for a plant study. Verses and images that bring a math concept or a piece of literature to life.
Our teachers create this chalkboard art fresh for each main lesson, and it changes as the curriculum unfolds. It's more than decoration; it's a living record of the ideas students are exploring, presented with the same care and beauty we want them to bring to their own work.
Children absorb more than facts when they look up at a board like this. They absorb the sense that what they're learning matters enough to be drawn with intention.
