A huge THANK YOU to Krambambuli Puppet Theatre for bringing the magic of The Gruffalo to life at our May Faire! The children (and adults!) were absolutely enchanted by the puppetry and storytelling, pure joy from start to finish.

Krambambuli Puppet Theatre specializes in fairy and wisdom tales from around the world, and we felt every bit of that wonder at our festival. What a gift to our school community!

We absolutely cannot wait to welcome you back next year!

"Nature is the source of wonder, and the child should be allowed to experience it without any interference" - Rudolph Steiner (founder of Waldorf education)

When children are given the space to wonder, to question, and to explore, curiosity becomes a habit of mind. Waldorf education is built on the belief that a child who loves to learn will never stop learning.

Rather than teaching children what to think, Waldorf education is fundamentally concerned with teaching children how to think: cultivating independent judgment, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. The approach embraces that children learn most deeply when they are fully engaged- head, heart, and hands. Every lesson is designed not just to be understood, but to be felt and experienced.

"Receive the children in reverence, educate them in love, and send them forth in freedom"
- Rudolph Steiner (founder of Waldorf education)

Bread baking in our early childhood classroom is a perfect example of the Waldorf approach in action: purposeful, rhythmic work that builds fine motor skills, cultivates patience, and connects children to the natural world in a meaningful way.

Classroom Spotlight on our 6/7th Grade Class!

A key aspect of Waldorf education is getting out of the classroom and embracing hands-on learning opportunities. This past week, our 6/7th grade class took the ferry from Whittier to Cordova, went on a 7.1 mile hike on the pipeline/McKinley lake, enjoyed birding with the Prince William Sound Science Center, learned some watercolor techniques with David Rosenthal (a well known watercolor and landscape artist), dissected real fish and simulated bird stomachs, and learned about oil spills and how they are cleaned up. Lastly, the enjoyed a hike out to Sheridan Glacier.

These rich, real-world experiences are at the heart of the Waldorf approach, weaving together science, art, and nature into a seamless tapestry of learning that cannot be obtained staring at textbooks.

Music in Waldorf Education

In Waldorf education, music isn't just a class β€” it's a living thread woven through every subject. From rhythmic math recitations to singing in multiple languages, children experience learning through music, not just alongside it.

Why choose a Waldorf education?

Waldorf education promotes integrative and interdisciplinary thinking through critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and the development of practical skills such as public speaking, leadership, project management, and goal-oriented assignments.
The outcomes of Waldorf education are impressive. Nearly 100% of graduates attend university. Waldorf students develop curiosity, creativity, and a deep love for learning. They graduate with confidence, poise, and a genuine care for the world and its people.
