UAA Seawolves Hockey Alumni

The UAA Hockey 24/25 season has kicked off this past weekend with a home series against reigning champions from the University of Denver which the guys fell short in both games. Despite the result, the start was still promising and the next weekend series against Miami (OH) and Northern Michigan are right around the corner.
The team has also kicked off the work in the classrooms and has checked into volunteer hours around Anchorage.

UAA Hockey introduced a new assistant coach in Vincent Pietrangelo in August. He has been around College Hockey since 2015 with stations at Ferris State, Lake Superior State, SUNY-Canton, and Arcadia University. His experience at the Collegiate level will benefit the program greatly and help to further develop UAA Hockey.

While it’s been a few months since the guys concluded their successful 2023-2024 season, a lot has happened since then.
1. The guys really had a promising season last year, as they finished 15-17-2, including a few “barn burners” against Penn State, Arizona State, Providence, and U-Mass Lowell.
2. The coaching staff has been recruiting continuously: eight players have signed their NLI’s for the upcoming season. This is a mix of freshmen and transfers.
3. UAA Chancellor Sean Parnell has continued to support the hockey program for the short and long runs. Ultimately, the goal is to build a suitable D1 Arena on campus. UAA contracted JLL, a firm facilitating public partnerships with Universities to support this cause.
4. The Alumni Golf Tournament is coming up on the 27th of June. Registration for 4-person teams is currently open. The tournament will start at 7:00am at the Anchorage Golf Course. The team started the 2023/24 season two weekends ago, earning two series splits against both U-Mass Lowell and Lake Superior State. They are getting ready to take on Air Force this weekend for Military Appreciation Night back home at the Avis Sports Complex.
The alumni event in Calgary back in July turned out to be a success so another one is coming up soon. There is an opportunity to sign up for a 3-day trip to Scottsdale,AZ from November 17-19. UAA will take on the ASU Sundevils that weekend and other events are planned as well. 25 alumni have already signed up. More information can be found in the latest alumni newsletter sent via e-mail. Avis Alaska has been a UAA partner for 35 years. We are grateful for their support and we are thrilled for this new step in our partnership! UAA Seawolves Hockey Alumni

Many of us that were blessed to have Chuck impact our lives know what a great
man he was and how much he meant to everything Seawolf.
We would like to express our condolences to Terry and the entire Homan family and friends.

Update: A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. on May 19 in the Seawolf Sports Complex gym. The public is welcome to attend.

Chuck Homan was a wonderful supporter of Seawolf Hockey. He will be missed.

Another Seawolves Hockey Alumni Event will take place on July 14-16th in Calgary, AB, Canada. There will be reserved seats at the Calgary Rodeo & Chucks, golfing or guided fishing on the Bow River, a dinner party, and a Ranch Day with BBQ and bonfire.
