In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, The Imperial Court of All Alaska is proud to announce a partnership show with NAMI of Anchorage on May 17th, 2026 called Emotional Elegance: A Mental Health Awareness Month Showcase.
Tickets: $15 online or at the door. There is limited availability so get your tickets now!
Doors: 6:30PM
Show: 7:00PM
Location: 1057 W Fireweed Lane, Anchorage, AK 99503.
Mental health is a topic that hits at the heart of our community and the effects of it can ripple out like waves, but it is also something that can be hard to talk about. Emotional Elegance is a showcase where performers will tell stories of their own mental health journeys and how their art has helped them through some of their darkest times.
This show will be 18+ as topics of mental health can get heavy, there will also be trigger warnings given before each performance as well as a support person on site in the event that something discussed becomes triggering for anyone.
In addition to silent auction tables where there will be self-care items aplenty, there will be resource tables with information on various community mental health resources. Mental health is something that can feel isolating, especially in Alaska, but please know that You Are Not Alone and that through community and through your art, we will make it through to see another sunrise.

Annie absolutely loves connecting with our youth! Understanding that we are shaping a future they will live in and asking for their input is of critical import to our mission here at NAMI Anchorage which is why we do this kind of outreach. It's also why we are creating a youth cohort to advise our Board of Directors
And since it's we thought we'd share not only this post but also an invitation to join us as we host Anchorage Youth Court on May 29 for game night! More details coming soon but make sure to put it in your calendar 📅
Big thank you to our April Bar Meeting guest speaker, Annie Ferry with NAMI Anchorage! Annie taught our members about NAMI — National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the amazing programs they provide. We also learned that the parents of clients coming through our program can find support and resources through NAMI!
We look forward to connecting with this awesome organization more in the future and to the upcoming game night they are hosting for our youth on Friday May 29th!

📚 Let's talk about Annie's problems. All two of them.
Problem #1: Book hoarding. 😄
(Is it really a problem though? We're going to say no.)
Problem #2: The complete and total inability to choose just one to recommend.
This is Annie's bookshelf. Yes it's shaped like a tree. Yes it's absolutely adorable. And yes — roughly 75% of those books have yet to be read. The struggle is real and we are not ashamed. 📚🌳
So this week instead of Annie choosing something new from that glorious tree of unread potential — we're turning it over to YOU. 👇
What is the best book you've read in the past year? 📖
Helpful? Uplifting? Life changing? Made you ugly cry in the best possible way? Couldn't put it down? Changed the way you see the world?
Drop your recommendations in the comments and help us fill that tree with the good stuff! 🌳💙
Bonus points if it touches on mental health, wellness, neurodiversity, chronic illness, community, or just made you feel genuinely less alone in this world. 💙
Come as you are. Read what feeds your soul. 📚🌳

Happy Anchorage! 🎉
Today we want to introduce you to one of our Executive Director Annie Ferry's favorite hobbies — and it costs nothing and sparks endless joy. 😄
Annie LOVES colloquial sayings. Specifically — the parts we've all forgotten, misquoted, or just decided to leave out because the full version is a little too real. 😄
Buckle up. 💙
"Great minds think alike"
Sure — but the full quote? "Great minds think alike, but fools seldom differ." So maybe pump the brakes on that one. 😄
"Blood is thicker than water"
Actually? "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Meaning the bonds we CHOOSE matter more than the ones we're born into. 💙
"Rome wasn't built in a day"
True. But it burned down in one. 🔥
"The squeaky wheel gets the grease"
Also the first to be replaced. Just saying. 😄
"Jack of all trades, master of none"
The full quote: "A jack of all trades is master of none, but oft better than a master of one." Suddenly feels like a compliment, doesn't it? 💙
"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"
The rest? "...that mediocrity can pay to greatness." Oh. OH. 😄
"Curiosity killed the cat"
Actually? Worry killed the cat. And satisfaction brought him back. 🐱
And our personal favorite — because it feels deeply relevant to the work we do every single day:
Mark 14: "The poor will always be with you... and you can help them any time you want to."
The second half changes everything, doesn't it? 💙
Annie has been collecting these for years and honestly — we think they're onto something. Context matters. The full story matters. And the parts we leave out? Sometimes those are the most important parts of all.
Sound like anyone you know? 😄💙
What's a saying YOU'VE discovered has a longer, more complicated truth? Drop it in the comments! 👇

Do you have a pickup truck or a bag of soil to spare? We need you!
We are looking for volunteers with pickup trucks to help us move our planters, and we are also accepting soil donations to help fill them for our community garden. Whether you can lend your truck, your hands, donate some soil, or all three, we would love your support in making this garden come to life!
If you can help out, please reach out to us so we can coordinate. Every bit of support means the world to our little corner of Anchorage. 💚

A huge thank you to the HOSA group and students at Hanshew Middle School, and a special shoutout to Ms. Hermanson for making it happen!
Our Executive Director Annie had such a wonderful time visiting and sharing more about NAMI Anchorage, our mission, and the work we do in our community. Getting to connect with the next generation of future healthcare advocates means everything to us.
Thank you for having us, Hanshew. We love seeing young people passionate about mental health and making a difference! 💚
