The 4-H Food Challenge is an exciting contest where teams work together to prepare a nutritious dish using a surprise ingredient. Along the way, members practice cooking skills, nutrition knowledge, food safety, communication, and teamwork, then present their finished dish and explain their decisions to a panel of judges.

If your child is interested in participating on a Chambers County 4-H Food Challenge team this year, we'd love to hear from you!

Did you KNOW? 🥒
Though commonly thought of as a vegetable, because cucumbers develop from a flower and contain enclosed seeds, they are scientifically a fruit. Cucumbers, along with cantaloupe, squash, pumpkins and watermelon, are members of the cucurbit family of produce. They grow on vines on the ground or can be grown on poles or trellises that hold the produce up. Cucumbers depend on bees to pollinate their flowers. Today there are over 120 different varieties grown around the world.
