Desire seeks pleasure, while love shares pure bliss. If you feel unlovable because you’re no longer desired, it’s a misunderstanding. You’re always lovable, but not everyone can share love with the same purity that you do.
In a relationship, when love is not shared, we know it. We can try to derive a logical explanation or make excuses that comfort us – but when love is absent, it becomes glaringly obvious. And when it’s consistently withdrawn, your intuition will urge you to move on.
We often overlook signs out of comfort, fear, or hope in our partner’s potential. But if we’ve tried everything and our partner isn’t committed to growth, then there’s a good chance their role on our path has expired. We must trust the process, especially if we know we’ve done everything we can to support them and make the relationship work. Not everyone is meant to stay for an extended time—some people will solely contribute to our evolution before they move on, or we let them go.
When love is consistently lacking in a relationship, it might be time to move on and create space for a more authentic connection. Looking back, you may realize the relationship was largely built on desire, pleasure, and infatuation. Even if your love was mostly unconditional, theirs may have been transactional, seeking something in return. This doesn’t mean they never shared a deeper love with you, but it may have only surfaced in fleeting moments. It’s often those rare memories that keep us holding on, even when they aren’t enough to sustain the relationship.
You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Not everyone you lose is a loss.” We must keep this in mind, not to boost our self-image, but to recognize that not everyone aligns with our greatest potential for the future.
