Learning at VMCS

At Vibrant Minds, learning begins with asking questions.

Scholars take an idea, explore it, build, adjust, and revise their work through hands-on projects and collaboration.

They stay with these projects over time, continuing to develop and shape them. Eventually, that work is brought together and shared with the school community. Families, staff, and other scholars are able to see what they've been working on and recognize their progress.

In this way, scholars learn how to develop ideas, see projects through to completion, and experience what it means to be celebrated for their work.

What is Vibrant Minds Charter School?

We are a proudly independent, TK–6th grade public charter school in Central Anaheim, built on a “mom and pop” model: intentionally small, single-site, and not part of a district or larger network.

What makes us different?

✔ Our school model is co-created by our scholars, staff, and families

✔ A small school community where scholars are known and supported over time

✔ A strengths-based approach that starts with identifying each scholar’s talents

✔ Interests are developed into strengths through mentorship, projects, and continued exploration

While we have been encouraged to start more charter schools under the VMCS banner by charter school proponents, we won't. We remain a single site, grassroots charter school that gives our all to the scholars and families we serve.

Vibrant Minds is a small, community-centered public charter school in Central Anaheim, where each scholar is known by name and supported in transforming their interests into strengths.

🌟 Vibrant Minds Charter School Reaches BLUE!🌟 We’re proud to share that VMCS has earned the BLUE performance level in several major metrics on the California School Dashboard—the highest rating a school can receive. 💙📈 🔵 What is the California Dashboard? It’s the state’s public report card for schools. It looks at multiple measures—academic achievement, growth, attendance, and school climate—using a color system from RED (lowest) to BLUE (highest). 🔵 What does BLUE mean? It means excellent performance AND strong improvement. VMCS is performing at one of the top levels in the state, showing that our scholars are learning, growing, and thriving. 💙 Thank you to our teachers, staff, families, community partners, and scholars for making this possible. 📚✨ Our first Reading is FUNdamental Book Event of the the year was a hit! ✨📚

Yesterday our scholars and staff brought the energy, the smiles, and of course—the reading selfies! From cozy corners to creative poses, the joy of reading was everywhere. 💛

Special thanks to our incredible 6th-grade RIF leaders—Naya, Abby, Jazelle, Noah, and Mikaeel—for running the event with so much energy and heart. And thank you to Ms. Mark and Ms. Mariano for thoughtfully selecting all the books. We appreciate you! 📚✨

And an extra-special celebration for Vivian, our talented 4th grader! 🌟 Her bookmark design from last spring’s competition was selected for publication and is now being distributed at RIF events across all of Southern California—reaching tens of thousands of children. We’re so proud of you, Vivian! 🎨📖💫

This event is one of our three annual RIF celebrations where scholars get to choose and keep a free book of their own— a VMCS tradition we’re proud to continue!📚✨
