Dear Maureen and James,
Yesterday was truly a very special and meaningful time for all of us.
James, thank you from the bottom of my heart for courageously sharing your personal story of addiction and recovery with such honesty and authenticity.
Hearing about the despair, pain, and darkness you experienced during your addiction, and more importantly, how you found genuine recovery and what transformed your life, was incredibly powerful. Your firsthand testimony about the recovery process and the practical steps that led you to healing was an invaluable gift to our students, therapists, and counselors.
I was especially moved to learn that you are now serving as a Recovery Coach, helping others find freedom from addiction. That is truly inspiring. You have turned your deepest wounds into a source of hope for countless others.
James, you are an amazing person, and I have tremendous respect for you.
My dear sister, Maureen,
We spend years learning theories and therapeutic techniques, but the honest stories you and James shared yesterday spoke to our hearts in a way that no textbook ever could.
Through your special presentation, we gained a much deeper understanding of the true nature of addiction, the healing power of relationships, and the incredible hope that exists within every human being.
I was deeply impressed by how beautifully you integrate two areas of expertise that are rarely found together—being an exceptional addiction therapist and an outstanding relationship therapist. Your work provided everyone in attendance with a clear vision of a new and powerful path toward healing.
What touched me even more was your own journey—not only as a therapist, but as a mother who never gave up on her son. Your unwavering love, perseverance, and faith ultimately helped lead James to recovery. And now, seeing James helping others as a Recovery Coach is one of the most beautiful testimonies of hope and healing I have ever witnessed.
You are both truly extraordinary.
I wholeheartedly support and cheer you on as you continue this important work. I cannot wait to read your new book, and I sincerely congratulate you on its publication.
May God continue to bless both of you and use your lives to bring hope, healing, and restoration to many more people around the world.
With my deepest gratitude and love,
Jay Oh, Ph.D.
