QD Learning

Empower Grades 1-12 students to become emerging global leaders through interdisciplinary communication, business, and computing education.

QD Learning provides an integrated after-school program, enrichment classes and summer camps. Our enrichment classes include Public Speaking, Speech and Debate, Reading and Writing, and Chinese classes. Our 2019 Summer & Winter Camp (for K-8) will start middle of June and end middle of August. We offer different levels of speech & debate courses and we take students year-round to local, state, and national tournaments. We also offer Chinese Immersion that is real-life project-based and designed by credentialed teachers. Our philosophy is to learn by doing; improve problem-solving skills; understand and value diverse world cultures; cultivate creativity, collaboration and perseverance; develop communication and leadership skills.

Congratulations to the QD Learning Honey Badgers on an outstanding performance at the 2026 Jack Howe Memorial Tournament!

Our students delivered impressive results across public speaking and competitive debate events:

🏅 Isabelle Hua — 7th Place in Informative Speaking, earning both a NIETOC bid and a Tournament of Champions (TOC) bid

🏅 Cyril Zhu — Semifinalist in Impromptu Speaking

🏅 Katrina Fan — 4th Place Top Speaker in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate

These achievements reflect the confidence, preparation, critical thinking, and communication skills our students continue to build through QD Learning’s speech and debate programs.

Congratulations to Isabelle, Cyril, Katrina, and all of our Honey Badgers who competed this weekend. We are proud to see their hard work translate into success on the tournament stage!

Honey Badger Spotlight 🦡✨

Exciting to share Eric Chang was selected as Co-President of the Young Investors Society Student Advisory Board (2026-27)!

Eric has been deeply involved in Speech & Debate for years, and was also a member of our 2024-25 Business Varsity Team, where his team’s pitch on Futu Holdings earned them a spot among the Global Top 100 Teams. He later founded a Young Investors Society club at Valencia High School and has been a regular participant at the Global Youth Investment Summit.
This also marks a special milestone for our Business program. Over the past 5 years, 4 of our students have gone on to serve as President of the YIS Student Advisory Board:

🏆 Cici Yu — 2022-23
🏆 Felix Peng — 2023-24
🏆 Alisa Chang — 2025-26
🏆 Eric Chang — 2026-27

Go Eric! And so proud of our honey badgers who were willing to take the leadership role and give back!

Excited to share some special news: Felix Peng, one of the earliest students in our Business program, is now making waves as a founder!

Felix showed leadership early on in our Business program, leading teams in several business competitions, and later served as President of the Young Investors Society Student Advisory Board. After heading to Harvey Mudd College, he was elected Class President for the Class of 2028 twice.

Earlier this year, Felix and his classmate joined Y Combinator and launched their startup, Peer Freight (peer-freight.com), using AI to reimagine the traditional freight brokerage industry.

Today is their YC Demo Day! It’s amazing to see how far he’s come.

If you’re interested in his business, whether as a potential customer or investor, contact him through his website, peer-freight.com

Sharing some exciting news about one of our Badger alumni!

Alisa Chang was recently featured in The New York Times Upfront magazine, published by Scholastic in partnership with The New York Times.
As last year’s Co-president of the Young Investors Society student advisory board, Alisa shared her insights and experience in financial literacy and investing during the interview.
What made it extra special: Alisa mentioned that one of her favorite things back in elementary school was the Scholastic Book Fair. Being featured in a Scholastic publication now feels like a bit of a full-circle moment for her.

Congrats, Alisa! 🎉
