I work with a number of students who use AAC. The most common is the iPad with Proloquo2go. After having to walk a number of people through the steps of how to share their current proloquo2go layout with me, I FINALLY created an infographic. š©š»āš» šš»āāļø

18 years ago, I discovered and fell in love with the field of Speech Language Pathology.
As I steadfastly pursued my associates degree, then my bachelors degree and on to my masters degree, I always knew that one day I ultimately wanted to start my very own practice where I could allow my passions and career to grow in tandem all while building strong connections with the families/clients I worked with.
6 months ago, I finally overcame my analysis paralysis, self doubt, self limiting and self sabotaging thoughts, and an overall intense fear of failure... And I finally did it!!!!
So without further ado, I am so excited to share with you all (my family, friends, and whoever else takes the time to read this post) my private practice: PICSL Therapy LLC (WWW.PICSLTHERAPY.COM)
ABOUT PICSL THERAPY LLC:

Happy Fridayās eve. How is everyone holding up? Only 19 days left of the school year for this burnt out SLP.
Every school year presents with its own challenges, but this year has been the most challenging by far. From distance education to optional hybrid (for about 2 weeks) to optional full in person delivery models⦠my head has been spinning with the amount of schedule changes and not to mention the insane⦠and I mean INSANE⦠amount of additional paperwork and prep time.
But despite all that, one thing remained the same: My love for this job and the children and families I serve.
The best thing about this past school year was the amount of parent interaction and collaboration for my students during their speech and language sessions. It has been so heartwarming to get a glimpse into the home life of some of my students; And to share in the real time progress of my students with their parents right there next to them has been the most rewarding.
Itās easy to list and rant about all of the negatives of this year, but when you peel back those layers the core and the foundation remains the same. I love what I do and am lucky to have a career doing what I love.

Happy Friday! I purchased a document camera from Amazon and love how compact it is. It was super easy to install too! Iāve been using nothing but digital materials for my teletherapy session, so Iām excited to be able to start using my tangible materials too!

1st day back from winter break... and I am already soooo BEARY tired lol. Transitioning back to work after 2 weeks off is always rough, so I wasnāt too surprised that only 6 out of 16 kids showed up for their session today. At least I was prepped and ready for them š¤·š»āāļø weāll try again tomorrow. Now time for paperwork... the work never ends š @ North Las Vegas, Nevada

Happy Friday. These past few weeks have been quite the struggle. Putting effort into making today a good one. So here I am makeup free, adult acne and all. I have a day full of meetings and paperwork. So, Iām starting off with some iced coffee with pumpkin spice creamer and maple syrup. Hereās to making today a good one, acknowledging the emotions that arise, and continuing to move forward.

9.8.20: I have been giving myself a cut off time every work day so that I have ample time to rest and recharge. Tonight I told myself 7pm... and I ended up shutting everything off at 9pm. Not too bad. Distance education has proven to be quite challenging mentally and emotionally in regards to scheduling and paperwork. BUT... the silver lining: today was day one of teletherapy and I have to tell you, I absolutely, without a doubt, STILL love what I do. Working with my students virtually today brought me so much joy. Theyāre engagement, enthusiasm, and genuine effort during our sessions despite technological issues and the physical distance of āseeingā each otherās smiles and silly faces on the other side of a screen made today worthwhile! So as I continue to try to navigate all the nuances while tackling the unending and ever growing āto doā list, I remind myself (AND ALL OF YOU) to breathe. Make sure you still make time daily for self care so that you can continue to show up each day for the very reason we chose the profession we are in... THE KIDS š (original photo credit: )
8.23.20: tomorrow marks day one of the 2020-2021 school year for the students in my district, and we are starting off 100% virtual/distance learning. Iāve spent the past three weeks participating in trainings, staff meetings, caseload prepping, scheduling, virtual therapy room making, and therapy lesson planning. This weekend, even though I still have so much more prep to do, I chose to step away from my desk and enjoy my time with my hubby and fur babies. We didnāt get to go camping like we had hoped, but we definitely enjoyed the drive. Feeling recharged and rested, I approach tomorrow with an open mind, flexibility, and most importantly, continued passion for the field I am in and the students, families, and colleagues I work with. Year 9 of being a school based speech language pathologist, HERE I COME!
