Olivia 1st year at Yorba Linda High School running track & field. Just a few weeks into the season. She is doing 100, 300 hurdles and 100 meters along with 4x100 relays.
Proud of Olivia! At her first meet she had only jumped one hurdle few days before the first meet and just went for it. Her second race they moved her up to Varsity hurdles. That was a little scary considering her 2nd meet. Now they have her going back and forth with Freshman & Varsity. Yesterday was the Brea relays. There team came in 4th. Olivia hit a PR in the 100 hurdles and really that’s all that matters. If your improving during the season no matter where you place than it’s all that matters . Getting better than you were yesterday!
Congrats to all the runners out there keep getting after it 🏃♀️

This obstacle is called the bender. Let’s just say awkward. If your afraid of heights this one may scare you. It’s not that it’s hard it’s just so awkward is the word I would use to describe it. Many clients I have trained have been afraid of heights and let me tell you I have seen them shake when climbing high walls, cargo nets and this one right here. The ones who face their fears have conquered. Conquering obstacles on the course have transferred over to overcoming obstacles in your life including in your mind. The mind is our most powerful weapon we have make sure your doing things daily to strengthen your 🧠

Happy Tuesday Fit Fam 💪
I used to dread the barb wire crawl when I first started racing. I Learned quickly to stay very low and most the time roll so the pony tail doesn’t get stuck or your clothes. I decided long ago to always be happy while I’m racing and of course you have to smile during the barb wire crawl because that’s where the photographer is 😂😂
Okay seriously do hard things. If you want to build believe in yourself you must do hard things in life. Once you accomplish things that you thought we’re not possible and you do it your belief system goes up big time. Most people I have encountered that don’t do things out of their comfort zone stay the same and their confidence is pretty low. I promise you if you want to build strength from the inside out challenge yourself with something that scares you just a little. If you need help finding a challenge DM me I’m sure I could think of something for you.

If you would’ve told me 10 years ago I was going to run an ultra beast I would say not possible. 🤷♀️
For those that don’t know an ultra spartan beast is 30+ miles , 60+ obstacles. It turns out ours was 33.5 miles, 65 obstacles with 8700 elevation gain. 🤪
In high school I ran the 400, 330 hurdles, 110 hurdles and 4x4 relay. That was the extent of my running.
In my 20’s I started to compete competitively in Obstacle Course racing which way back then was the Ms. galaxy competition and the Women’s Tri-Fitness competition. You basically would run an obstacle course but you would be done in less than a minute it stacked with obstacles. You pretty much were sprinting.
In my 30s I decided to train for a sprint triathlon. The running consisted of a 5K which to me back then seems soooo far. Then I upped my game to a Olympic triathlon which consisted of a 10k worth of running. I did end up with a half Iron Man which was a total of a half marathon worth a running towards my late 30’s
When I hit 40 I found spartan racing. I fell in love with it and it reminded me of back in my 20s when I was doing obstacles. Started with a sprint race then a super and finally a beast which is 1/2 marathon.
At 47 completed my first Ultra Spartan beast and as you can see in this pic we finished at 5:29 pm in the dark. We started in the dark and ended in the dark. I had the best partner to do this with. We made a pack we would stay together the whole race and we did. What I am getting at is I never been a solid runner. I had to work at it and have been the last 25 years.
This is what I know if you set a goal and tell others what your going to do 9 times out of 10 you will do it. If you train smart be consistent and hold yourself accountable you can do anything you set your mind too. I guess you can say I have always like to challenge my mind my body along with my spirit because in everything business, personal and fitness this is where the growth is. Don’t wonder if you can do something just go for it what the worst thing that can happen? You fail but so what it’s better then living your life wondering if you could had.
