“Awesome” doesn’t begin to cover how I see the athletes on this stage. They are better than I was- they have had to deal with social media, hype, a world that’s smaller than ever because everyone knows everything at the same time.

And- the game still needs to be played.
Having been there I know the feeling…it’s all happening at once and the players that are able to be in the moment will win.

The week of the WCWS always feels full circle.

I love that these girls get to see who they want to become…and I REALLY love seeing the girls that started at lessons live out their dreams after years and years of sweat, doubt, injury, and all the rest.

Some weeks I miss lessons but there hasn’t been a week that’s gone by that I haven’t been trying my best to communicate what I wish I knew.

I think a lot of parents might be surprised that after winning a national championship and making it to start at a top team in the country…I could still have regrets and still think my career wasn’t what I wanted.

As we gear up for the WCWS to start, there’s so much to be excited about and to watch unfold. Behind each team, each athlete is their own journey, struggle, hurdles they have dealt with. All is part of it.

This journey is such a gift and more than ever- I know that way more athletes than just me have these moments of realization, of regret— The Real Work and The Roadmap I Never Had are my way of communicating the most important lessons I believe athletes can learn as they grow up through sports.

This week my team guide to The Real Work (my first book) came out and is a great tool for coaches to take a stab at guiding middle school athletes and older through these concepts.

I wrote The Roadmap I Never Had with the high school senior in mind. It goes through my actual college experience and lets you in where most athletes just assume everything will be worked out for you.
