🎉 AESD has something BIG to celebrate! For the first time, all 23 Anaheim Elementary School District schools have earned recognition through the California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) School Recognition Program! Across AESD, 2 schools received Platinum recognition, 14 Gold, 5 Silver, and 2 Bronze.

AESD joined the City of Anaheim to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Boysen Skate Park, located just down the street from Roosevelt Elementary School. Our Roosevelt students had a front row seat to this special moment alongside Superintendent Jesús Chavarría and Board President Jackie Filbeck. Congressman Lou Correa, Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken, Mayor Pro Tem Carlos Leon, Councilmember Norma Campos Kurtz, additional members of the Anaheim City Council and other community leaders were also in attendance.

The new skate park will become Anaheim’s 9th and will feature a skate bowl, rails, ledges, spectator seating, shaded areas and new landscaping. Even more special, local children and families helped shape the plans by sharing their ideas for what they wanted to see in their neighborhood.

For our Roosevelt students, today was more than a groundbreaking. It was an opportunity to see firsthand that young voices matter and that when a community comes together, their ideas can help shape the places they call home. .aesd

As our Juarez Elementary teachers and staff spent today getting everything ready to welcome students for the first day of school tomorrow, they received a magical surprise from Disney.

Every teacher and staff member was gifted Disney passes as a heartfelt thank you for the care, dedication, and hard work they bring to our students every day. There were plenty of smiles and excitement as they were reminded just how appreciated they are before the school year begins.

A huge thank you to Disney for this incredible act of kindness and for helping our Juarez team kick off the new school year with a little extra magic. We are so grateful for your generosity! .aesd

Today, Superintendent Jesús Chavarría, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Moreno, Board Trustee, Jackie Filbeck, Cecilia Román, Yesenia Navarro and Evelyn Gutierrez who are staff members of our School, Family and Community Engagement - .aesd joined education leaders, community partners, families, and advocates at Anaheim Union High School District to celebrate a historic milestone for California’s Community Schools initiative.

We are grateful to OOOCO, Anaheim Union High School District, city officials, and the many partners who helped bring this event together.
