🎶 A standing ovation for Mrs. Grace Kwon! 👏🎉

Tonight, our AESD Board of Education proudly recognized Stoddard Elementary music teacher Grace Kwon for being named a 2026 CMA Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence!

Selected as one of just 30 music educators nationwide, Mrs. Kwon has spent 11 years at Stoddard inspiring more than 7,000 students through music, creativity, and unforgettable learning experiences.

From mariachi and choir to musical theatre and ukulele, she has helped students discover their talents, build confidence, and find joy in music.

Today, AESD parents enjoyed a field trip to Muzeo in Anaheim, hosted by our School, Family, and Community Engagement (SFACE) team. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together and discover a cultural gem right here in our community!

Today, Adelaide Price Elementary School was awarded a $10,000 Read Conmigo School Impact Grant from The Kemper Foundation! Price is one of only eight schools selected across Orange and Los Angeles counties. What an honor for our school community! 🎉

This grant will support our Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion program with instructional resources and materials, updated technology for the media lab, and enriching cultural programs for the school community.

We’re grateful to The Kemper Foundation for investing in our Price students. A special thank you to Principal Dr. Mungia Valencia, the Price staff, and our district DLI team for working together to make this possible.

We also thank our Board of Education for making Dual Language Immersion available at all 23 AESD schools, opening doors for students to learn in two languages. Thank you to Board President Ms. Jackie Filbeck and our Price parents for joining us to celebrate! We’re grateful for our families’ continued support of our DLI program and the opportunities it brings to their children.

Today, nearly 70 AESD parents visited Anaheim Public Library’s Sunkist Branch for the second in a series of parent field trips introducing families to the many resources at their local library. Parents explored library services and had the opportunity to pick up their child’s newly designed AESD/APL library card. Thank you to Anaheim Public Library for warmly welcoming our families and to AESD Board President Ms. Jackie Filbeck for joining us today and helping strengthen this partnership. We also thank our School Family and Community Engagement (SFACE) team for making these wonderful opportunities possible. Together, we’re opening doors for our families to read, learn, and explore! 📚✨

Today, students enjoyed Yamaha’s “Surprise & Delight” experience with Kevin Olusola, cellist, beatboxer, author, and member of Pentatonix!

Students learned to beatbox, enjoyed a live performance, and heard Kevin share his story as he brought classical and contemporary music together in creative ways. Every student also received a copy of his children’s book, My Voice Is a Beat, to take some of that inspiration home. 📚❤️
