You guys asked: I delivered haha. Baby basics where no question is too basic! These are the steps I would go in to try and get my baby to go back to sleep.

Part 2: Active labor! We know that movement during this phase is huge. The longer you can stay upright and moving/working with your body that’s amazing. Most people who get an epidural get it during this phase and when/if you do, it’s still crucial to make sure you get frequent position changes with the help of your hospital staff. You can utilize all kinds of positioning aids like a birthing ball, peanut ball, pillows, and more. Usually during this phase you can’t “talk” through contractions, they become more intense, and you need a bit to recover between them. Definitely utilize your tools like J or moo breathing, water therapy, position changes, hip squeezes, or medication if so desired. This is why I tell people to practice this stuff or have a game plan for pain management ahead of time because it’s hard to decide “in the moment.” If you’ve practiced and your partner/support system knows what to do as well with minimal direction that helps keep your mental focus on what you need to do!

Everett It’s great to be active but I just don’t want you wearing yourself out before active or true labor! Sometimes your body needs to feel “ready,” or at “peace” and safe to start picking up.
