Anacortes Community,

I am honored to serve as the superintendent of Anacortes School District. Our schools are an important part of the fabric of this community, and I believe the strongest school districts are built through meaningful partnerships with students, families, staff, community organizations, local leaders, and businesses.

My initial priorities will be listening and learning. I want to understand what our community values most about Anacortes schools, celebrate the work already underway, and listen carefully to the ideas and opportunities that can help us continue moving forward.

Our district is fortunate to have talented and dedicated staff who work every day to provide students with meaningful learning experiences and opportunities to discover their strengths and prepare for their futures. I look forward to being in our schools, seeing that work firsthand, and getting to know the students and educators who make Anacortes School District such a special place.

I look forward to building relationships throughout the broader Anacortes community. Our students benefit when schools and communities work together, and I am excited to learn from the many individuals and organizations who care deeply about the success of our young people.

As part of this work, I have been developing a Superintendent Entry Plan outlining my approach to listening, learning and engaging with our students, staff, families and community during my first months as superintendent. The plan will be ready to share in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout for it! I’m excited to share this roadmap and continue this important work together.

A new school year is officially underway in Anacortes! ✨

Today, our incredible Anacortes School District staff came together to reconnect, reflect and get ready for another year of serving our students and families. From professional learning and important conversations, it was the perfect way to begin the 2026–27 school year.

We were especially honored to welcome Chairman Tom Wooten of the Samish Indian Nation, who shared a meaningful land acknowledgment with our team. We are grateful for the opportunity to recognize the history, people and communities connected to the land we call home.

A huge thank you also goes to WASA Executive Director Tim Garchow for spending time with our staff and inspiring us as we begin this new year. His message was a wonderful reminder of the incredible responsibility and opportunity we have to make a difference in the lives of students every day.

Most of all, today was about our people. The educators, support staff, administrators and leaders who come together with a shared purpose: creating opportunities for every Anacortes student to learn, grow and thrive.

We’re ready, we’re excited, and we can’t wait to welcome our students back!

School Starts in ONE Week!

Anacortes, help us keep our students safe as they head back to school!

- Slow down in school zones and watch for flashing lights.
- Stop for school buses when red lights are flashing and the stop sign is out; it’s the law!
- Watch for students walking and biking near crosswalks, bus stops, and neighborhoods.
