After 27 1/2 years of service as Rosario's station manager, Dave Habenicht took another job last November. In order to give him a proper, albeit belated, send-off, we will host a farewell party for him on Sunday, July 28th at 6pm in Lindgren Hall. If you are nearby enough to attend, please RSVP.

We are also soliciting well wishes from Rosario folks near and far. Please send your message to [email protected]. We will collect the messages and compile them in a nice way to present to Dave at his party.

Did you know Walla Walla is starting a new marine biology major starting this fall? Students will have the opportunity to study with our experienced marine biologists both on the main campus and at Rosario!

Beginning next fall, the Walla Walla University Department of Biological Sciences will offer a bachelor of science in marine biology. The new degree track will be one of the only marine biology programs at a private school on the West Coast.

According to Kirt Onthank, associate professor of biology and Rosario Beach Marine Laboratory director, there are many reasons why WWU is an excellent place to study marine biology. Onthank explained that marine biologists almost always work closely with engineers because marine biology requires many custom-made tools. Since WWU has a well-established School of Engineering, marine biology students will be able to gain collaboration skills and do high-caliber research.
