‼️Attention Residents!‼️Public health officials in Montana and two other states are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella linked to broccoli sprouts produced by Evergreen Fresh Sprouts, LLC of Idaho.
As of Sept. 3, 2026, two people in Montana, 13 people in Washington, and one person in Idaho have been linked to this outbreak. State health officials in Montana suspect that the number of in-state cases associated with the outbreak will increase once additional laboratory testing is completed.
Most sick people in the outbreak who were interviewed reported eating broccoli sprouts from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts, LLC. Montana cases reported purchasing these sprouts from grocery stores in the state. Local sanitarians are contacting stores known to have sold the sprouts to have them removed.
Sprouts samples from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts are currently undergoing testing at the Montana Public Health Laboratory.
The Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) recommends that consumers do not eat broccoli sprouts from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts, LLC. Consumers should either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Retailers should not sell or serve broccoli sprouts from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts, LLC.
Any consumer or retailer who had these sprouts should wash and sanitize items and surfaces that may have come in contact with the broccoli sprouts.
Salmonella are bacteria that can make people sick with symptoms of diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Call your doctor if you have severe symptoms of Salmonella infection, such as bloody diarrhea, a fever higher than 102°F, diarrhea or vomiting lasting more than two days that is not improving, or signs of dehydration.
If you suspect that you were sickened by Salmonella after eating these sprouts, contact your local or tribal health department with details of your illness.
