We can't wait to meet our incoming 6th graders and their families!

Don't forget to stop by the PTO table and purchase your LLA Spiritwear. Cash is preferred but Venmo and CashApp also accepted.

We are excited to announce that our 6th Grade Open Doors Celebration will be held on August 26th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Middle School. Families can stop in anytime between those hours.

We will have student locker information as well as a list of their teacher’s names and classrooms provided to families at the entrance of the building. *Security screenings will be in place.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get to meet some of your child’s teachers and staff as well as be able to help your child establish their locker and start the school year off on the right foot!

During the Open Doors Celebration you will have the opportunity to:
🏫 Visit the different classrooms and locations where your child will be learning this year *Please note that some areas of the school are still undergoing construction and will not be accessible to visitors.*
👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 Meet teachers & staff
🔒 Practice opening their locker & even get their locker set up for the first official day of school
👕Purchase Spirit Wear from PTO!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Middle School at (518) 843-3716.

If your 6th or 7th grader still needs a vaccination, tomorrow is the last clinic before school starts.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to ensure every student is healthy, safe, and ready to learn on day one!

Under New York State law, all students must be fully vaccinated according to their age and grade level to attend school. Because required doses and booster schedules change as children grow, we encourage you to review your child’s immunization records with their healthcare provider as soon as possible.

New York State Law Compliance Notice
Please note that these immunization mandates are established directly by New York State Public Health Law (§ 2164) and the New York State Department of Health, not individual school district policies.

Mandatory Exclusion: Under state law, school districts are legally prohibited from permitting students to attend class or participate in school activities if they do not meet state immunization requirements within 14 days of the start of school (September 21st).

No Non-Medical Exemptions: New York State law does not allow for religious or non-medical exemptions. Only valid medical exemptions certified by a licensed physician are permitted by state regulation.

GASD School District Obligation: Our district must enforce these state regulations strictly for all enrolled students to maintain our state operating license and protect public health.

Overview of Middle School Grade-Level Requirements for 2026-2027 School Year:

If your child is entering 6th-grade, they will need the following vaccinations to attend:
1 dose of Tdap (Required at age 11 entering 6th grade or by their 11th birthday).

If your child is entering 7th-grade, they will need the following vaccinations to attend:
1 dose of MenACWY (Meningococcal)

Due to the high demand in September, please schedule a doctor's appointment ahead of time to ensure your child does not have to wait for a specific vaccine. Students must be up to date by the 14th day of school, which is September 21st.

Student Physicals:
Students entering 7th grade are REQUIRED to have a physical within 30 days of the start of the school year. Please contact your physician to schedule a physical.

What You Need to Do
Contact Your Pediatrician: Request a copy of your child's official immunization record to confirm they are up to date.

Submit Documentation: Please send updated immunization records to the school nurse's office prior to the start of the school year.

If your child needs a medical provider, please contact St. Mary's Family Health Center at 519-841-3770.

If you need assistance with vaccines, please call 518-841-3717 or contact the Public Health Department at 518-853-3531.
