Whew what a week!
Miami Ag Dept and FFA highlights for the week of September 18th through the 26th.
Friday 18th- conservation class flew a drone over the school property to assess boundaries as well as evaluate timber stand and perimeter of pond for an outdoor educational project.
Monday Sept 21- Area 7 Leadership Conference in Butler. This was the first activity trip for some freshmen.
Tuesday 22nd-Mini field trip for the conservation class to do a cropland habitat appraisal on a couple local corn and soybean fields. Took a moment to look at our own 8 acres of beans. Disclaimer: It was also homecoming week which explains the goofy dressed kids.
Wednesday- 23rd- trap team second round of competition.
Saturday 26th- Amsterdam Jubilee; selling gun raffle tickets and auctioning off students to work to pay their way to national convention.

These fine, hard-working young men are offering themselves up for the FFA Labor Auction on Saturday at 6:30 PM during the Jubilee. This will be held on the Main Street of Amsterdam. These kids are hard workers, offering four hours of labor to the highest bidder. They will be utilizing their funds to help defray travel costs for the National FFA convention trip.

An Ag teacher can never predict what is going to come into class with students; especially when you have a conservation class that will turn into a food science class second semester. Sometimes you get to roll with the flow .
Your hint? It’s dove season.
The end product? Dove wrapped jalapeño poppers.

Chapter President Brayden Nieder and Vice President Wayde Cameron attended the Bates County Farm Bureau annual meeting on Wednesday night August 26 at the Rustic Duck Venue near Appleton city. They each did a great job presenting a part of the chapter annual report.

Very grateful to have four FFA Members willing and able to go the first day of school to help Swinging B Cattle Co. volunteer with Friends of Yates in lending a hand with Erin's House #2 transitional housing project. These four are working on getting community service hours for their State and American degrees.

The past two weeks kept two FFA families and their advisor hopping at the MO State Fair.
Brayden Nieder showed in the barrow show and also showed a heifer in the Red Angus show, winning a Reserve Division. Freshmen member Lawson Nieder won a division with his Maine heifer.
We would also like to congratulate Lawson’s sister Myla Nieder, and Stetson Curtis of Archie, Missouri for being selected for the elite top 5 in the supreme heifer shootout.
