This is such an awesome picture (MHO). Cops from Fort Hall reservation. Reservation policing is challenging, I lived on the Lodge Grass reservation for almost a year (1980). While there I was truly touch by kind hearted people around me.

As with any place on this big planet, their is always one or two that break the rules. On a very cold and snowy morning I was shot at by one of the tribal members. I escaped harm and spent the rest of the day at the police station.

All in all... I enjoyed my days in the harsh landscape of beautiful Wyoming.

I have an announcement and I'm eager to share: as you know, I'm a retired police officer (Idaho Falls PD), and for the last 18 months I've been assisting with patrol duties here in Historical Idaho City. But alas, the time has come to retire again. However, I will now take over the duties associated with police training. I am the "civilian" training coordination for the city police. I'm eager to continue my work with these fine officers and assist them in anyway possible.

I am looking forward to this professional venture. Over my 35 year police career I have trained officers from around the world, but never have I worked with a better team of public servants.

So, if your phone rings it might be me trying to firm up old professional (and important) relationships.

The last five years I've emersed myself in civilian training (thank you Mark Cerchione and Double Tap Range). But now I'm in need of fellow trainers, role players and graders. Just saying...

And... I am still Mr. Cerchione's right-hand-man in ALL things pertaining to the 2nd amendment!

Our civilian law enforcement academy is entering it's third week. Thank you to all those who have made this possible.

We had a blast on Saturday explaining all that goes into conducting a safe and professional traffic stop.

Remember, the best way to get out of a ticket is to hover very close to the posted speed limit.

In 1984 a monster in human form said good bye to his wife and went into a McDonald's in San Yisto California and opened fire, killing kids and adults alike. The response to incidents was hampered by a lack of formal training and people (kids!) bleed to death while rescues were being planned. Law enforcement officials sword they'd prepare and train better for such events.

In 2015 two more monsters in human form attacked the good people of San Bernardino (California), killing 22. But, the response was swift and decisive. Though, still tragic.

This month, the world's largest and most comprehensive training event, Urban Shield was finally defeated/eradicated by political maneuvering and erased from worlds training calendar.

It is a sad day for future hostages, future mass casualty victims (who might of survived) and those who loved them.

The unique skills and cunning determination that drives the high level ex*****on of a rescue plan will not be taught and tested because, in part, feeling could get hurt.

Dear Californians, what are you doing to yourselves? Just because you ignore it, doesn't mean it is not going to happen (again).

Hot weekend in Chicago and we all know people are going to be shot.

Mayor Rob Emanuel has promised hundreds of "extra" officers will be looking to slow or stop gun violence. So, if your a gun... looking to shoot a human... be warned!

Rob... you just can't help seeing this nightmare through the rose colored glasses.

Cops need to be detaining, interviewing, confronting, and arresting people... it has little to do with guns and more to do with supporting the good guys when they are dealing with the bad guys.

But honestly, what cop wants to be involved in a violent confrontation involving a youth?

Your reward: BLM storms your wedding, death threats toward your spouse, your kids harassed by adult protesters...

Let's see what Monday morning will reveal and if cops even bother to get out of their patrol cars: be like... Ho Hum, your jumping on the hood of my cop car... but still, I'm safer in here than dealing with you and the crowd.

Just got my comfirmation and Scheduled for Urban Shield 2018. San Francisco here I come!

If your on a SWAT team and want to test yourselves in the company of other like-minded individuals... this is the event.

My second time and I'm eager to get on the motorcycle and ride (Sept 8th-9th). I'll be assisting with scenarios... something I really enjoy and truly believe in: learning is DOING.

Years ago (mid-1980s) we presented a cartoon style, slide presentation on some of the most important aspects of Officer Safety and Survival. This, coupled with the first marking gun enhancement training exercise in the world took as all around the state of Idaho and set our international program in motion.

We originally called it R.O.T.T.E.N.
or
Roll-call Oriented Training To Emphasize Necessities. Then simplified it to S.O.S. (Streetwise Officer Survival). After that it became an contract course for POST known as G-SAT (General Suspect Apprehension Training). Thousands of students went through this program.

We have every intent to revisit the printed part of this project and include it in our Reserve Academy endeavor manual.

Our only obstacle... as always is... contemporary contend.

Here is the important part and the reason behind this post.
