Amherst College invites applications for the Custodian positions. The Custodian positions are full time, casual positions with no benefits. The positions begin in early August and will continue for three to six months depending on campus needs.
Amherst College has profoundly transformed its student body in terms of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and nationality, among other areas. Today, nearly one-quarter of Amherst’s students are Pell Grant recipients; 45 percent of our students identify as domestic students of color. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will excel at working in a community that is broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
The Custodian supports the efforts of Custodial Services to maintain safe, clean, orderly, and sanitary conditions throughout the campus community.
Work schedule: The positions are designated as providing essential services and may be required to report to work, or remain on duty even when the College is closed. Our work is central to student life and their needs occur at a variety of times throughout the day, week, and year and in such, a flexible schedule with extended shift times may be required. The work schedule may vary and corresponds to the College’s operational needs, but generally is either:
Monday through Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm
or
Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm
Application Instructions:
Interested candidates should complete the online application (https://apply.interfolio.com/76876).

July 17th-19th, 35 Amherst College employees participated in the Hitting Your Targets - Archery at Work program hosted by the Office of Human Resources. The sessions were held at Bramble Hill Farm and were facilitated by Amherst Archery Academy.
We all have goals at work and in our lives. These "targets" can sometimes feel easy, and sometimes feel very difficult to achieve. Archery at Work allows participants to combine learning a skill (how to shoot a bow and arrow) with discovering how to set goals and hit your targets, all while having some fun with colleagues from across campus.
