A MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY & CLIENTS

We want to take a moment to address a question we receive all the time:

“Does UD Maintenance offer residential snow removal?”

Unfortunately, the answer is no.

Many of you have followed UD Maintenance for years, and you may remember how this company started more than 15 years ago. Kyle built the business one driveway at a time, following residential routes with a little tractor and a big vision.

Those early residential customers took a chance on us — and their support played a huge role in helping us become the company we are today.

Over the years, UD Maintenance has evolved significantly. A few years ago, we made the decision to transition 100% into commercial and industrial snow & ice management. Today, our operation is built around serving large commercial, industrial, healthcare, retail, and institutional properties throughout Northern Ohio.

While we receive an overwhelming number of requests for residential snow removal every winter, we currently have no plans to return to the residential market. Our focus is on continuing to build and improve the commercial and industrial operation our team has worked so hard to create.

We truly appreciate everyone who continues to think of UD Maintenance when the snow starts flying. It means more than you know.

And if you’re looking for someone to handle your residential driveway this winter, we encourage you to give a small local snow removal company or someone just getting started the opportunity.

We were once that small company trying to earn our first customers, too.

At UD Maintenance, we’re always looking for ways to make snow and ice management more effective while using materials responsibly. One tool we use when conditions allow is liquid salt brine.

Brine can offer several benefits:

✅ Uses less rock salt — Can reduce the amount of solid salt needed when applied properly.

✅ Works proactively — Applied before a storm, brine can help prevent snow and ice from bonding to pavement.

✅ Better coverage — Liquid provides an even application across the surface.

✅ Helps crews work smarter — We can choose the right treatment for the conditions instead of simply adding more salt.

✅ Can make cleanup easier — Preventing ice from bonding can help with mechanical removal and reduce the need for additional salt.

Brine isn’t right for every storm. Temperature, precipitation and pavement conditions all play a role in deciding what treatment makes the most sense.

September 11th is a day to honor the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, 8 EMS personnel, and all who lost their lives on 9/11 — while remembering the first responders who continue to put their lives on the line every day.

At UD Maintenance, we honor their legacy through our foundation, Bags for Badges, with 100% of donated proceeds going directly to local families of fallen or injured Police, EMS, and Firefighters. Plus, $0.45 from every bag of Wild Fire Deicer sold is donated to Bags for Badges.

Today, we remember. Every day, we honor. 🇺🇸

This past week at the Lorain County Fair, we were proud to support the fair in several ways, including:

🚜 Donating loaders for the week to help with various needs around the fairgrounds
🏁 Supporting and sponsoring grandstand event participants including the Combine Derby and Power Wheels Derby
🐖 Supporting the Youth Livestock Auction by purchasing 2 market hogs, 4 turkeys, and 4 chickens and investing directly in the hard work of our local 4-H and FFA youth

These are the kinds of things that matter to us. When you choose a local contractor, you’re not just choosing someone to complete a job at your business. You’re choosing where your dollars stay and who they support.

When it comes to snow and ice management, having the right forecast at the right time can make all the difference! ❄️

At UD Maintenance, we work with professional meteorologists from trueWeather to help us stay ahead of winter weather. Their expertise helps our team better understand approaching storms, changing conditions, and what those forecasts mean for snow and ice operations.

We also look at climatology — the study of long-term weather patterns and historical averages — to help put each winter season into perspective. Climatology gives us a valuable baseline for what we might expect, while real-time forecasting helps us prepare for what’s actually coming.

As you can see from the graphic below, Avon, Ohio, where several of our sites are located, was well above the 5-, 10-, and 15-year snowfall averages last winter. That’s a great example of why looking at both climatology and current forecasts is so important when planning for winter operations.

We’ve been hearing a lot of different predictions for the 2026–2027 winter season. 👀

Thank you to everyone who came out today and made the UD Maintenance Phantom Open House a success!

We had a great day debuting the new Phantom Wing Plow and Section Pusher, seeing live equipment demonstrations, and hearing from industry professionals during a panel discussion on what’s new in snow and ice management.

We were also excited to welcome attendees and industry partners from multiple states who came out to see the latest in snow and ice equipment firsthand.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today a great event!
