UMass iCons

iCons (Integrated Concentration in STEM) is an undergraduate academic certificate program offered at the University of Mass iCons does not replace your major.

It enhances your major by giving you an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team of students and apply your knowledge to existing problems of global significance. The iCons program enhances each student’s disciplinary training through a four-year program of interdisciplinary case studies, laboratory work, and research, producing problem-solvers with powerful communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. iCons offers academic concentrations in the following tracks: Renewable Energy and Biomedicine/Biosystems

Celebrating student excellence! Anshuman Tyagi ’28, Gabriella Raydo ’28, Leah Solari ’27, and Naina Singh ’27 have been recognized with a 2026 UMass Amherst Libraries Undergraduate Sustainability Research Award.

Through their iCons course, they combined data analysis, technical reporting, and science communication to explore the potential of biogas production from livestock manure.
