Happy New Year! Souhegan High School’s Ethics Forum is excited to announce that after two years of interruption, we are organizing our annual HYPE (Hosting Young Philosophy Enthusiasts) conference at the University of New Hampshire, Durham for this upcoming spring! We plan to bring back the excitement of HYPE after COVID and continue to facilitate the philosophical, ethical, and citizenry-centered discussions that are so valuable to students in our state. We will spend the day talking with students from other schools in New England on a topic that is relevant to today. This year's essential question is: How does our generation create a world where valuable communication and relationships are emphasized?

Over the past eight years, HYPE. has grown exponentially, and this year attendance is projected to exceed over 1,000 students. Throughout this expansion, we have worked closely with many organizations, universities, and colleges in order to make this conference and the greater program successful. We work diligently each year to ensure that every school and student who desires to be a part of HYPE can do so regardless of their financial status. The Souhegan Ethics Forum works to plan, organize and provide breakfast, lunch, transportation, content resources, facilitation training, and even overnight accommodations for students who might be traveling from farther away. At our last in-person H.Y.P.E. Conference in 2019, we hosted schools from Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont as well as students from our own state New Hampshire. This year HYPE 2022 will take place on Thursday, March 17th at UNH Durham.

With this year being our first year back we need some help. Since we are hosting the conference we are tasked with the job of funding the transportation for the other schools attending. We work to make sure all schools and students who wish to be a part of HYPE are included. To include them, we cover the fees for their transportation. For our first year back we would like to ask you to please consider donating towards the cause. We have set up a GoFundMe and the link can be found below. Any and every donation will be appreciated.

We are working on planning Operation Pumkin for MVVS. This year we need about 250 pumpkins in total for the kids. Every year the Forum reaches out to local farms and sources donations of pumpkins. However, we are facing struggles sourcing pumpkins this year due to crop failure. We need some help!

If you are able to donate any sugar pumpkins/medium sized pumpkins, please bring them to the front office at the school or we can pick them up. If you would rather pick-up please contact Amanda Fulton at (603)554-2714.
If money would work better, all checks can be made out to SHS Activities Fund with Ethics Forum in the memo. Again checks can be picked up or dropped off at Souhegan High School’s front office.

Thank you so much for your support of our organization!

Hello Souhegan community! We are hosting the annual Operation Pumpkin for the Mont Vernon Village School! For Operation Pumpkin, the we visits MVVS right before Halloween to spend time and form bonds with the elementary school kids during the school day. We do this through games, halloween costumes, pumpkin painting, and more! This year we need roughly 220 bakers pumpkins to complete our pumpkin painting. If anyone knows of any local farms able to donate pumpkins for this great cause, please let us know! Thank you!

It's Hope for Gus week! The Hope for Gus Foundation is an organization created by Steve and Tanya Dreher. Steve is a teacher at Souhegan High School. Their son Gus suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and the goal of the foundation is to raise funds to support medical research that may yield a cure for this disease. The Souhegan Ethics Forum and the Hope for Gus Foundation have worked closely in the past, the Forum has orchestrated a week/weekend devoted to Gus and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

On Wednesday, September 15th, from 5-9pm there will be a Chipotle fundraiser at 356 Amherst St., Nashua, NH. It will be topped off by the Hope for Gus football game on Friday, September 17th. All proceeds made from these events will be donated to help support research for DMD. We hope to see you at these exciting community events centered on working towards an important cause!
