The 3rd annual Five College Student Language Symposium will take place at Smith College THIS Friday, April 6 from 2:30 - 5:30pm, in Hillyer Art Library - Graham Hall. The theme of this year's event is "Building Bridges Through Languages".

The MIT Arab Science and Technology (SciTech) conference will be held on April 15th in Cambridge, MA. The conference will include talks and panel discussions by notable Arab scientists, researchers and industry leaders. It will also include an exhibition where participants will have the opportunity to showcase their research work, startup ideas or non-profit organization achievements.

DEAFinitions: A Deaf Studies Conference is an annual Deaf studies conference hosted by Hampshire College's American Sign Language (ASL) Collective in the Franklin Patterson Hall building of Hampshire College.

The Third Annual DEAFinitions Conference will take place on Saturday, March 24th and Sunday, March 25th of 2018.

This year's event will feature live Arabic music by the Zay-Tunes Ensemble, Tannoura and Folk Dance by Yasser Darwish, Debke Dance led by Sharon Arslanian, Middle Eastern dinner and student performances.

At Smith College March 8 - The Role of Women in Middle Eastern Parliaments and Politics: What We Know
Dr. Shalaby is a specialist on women’s parliamentary representation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Her talk will focus on why the Arab region still has some of the lowest rates of women’s political representation in the world (17 percent).

JOB OPPORTUNITY: The Five College Consortium is hiring a recent grad who has substantial language learning experience, as well as recent experience living in an environment where English is not the primary language spoken.

Arabic Cultural Night at UMass on March 3! The event will take place in the Student Union Ballroom and begins at 7 PM.

Qryq Qyz: Music & Film from Central Asia. Qyra Qyz (aka Forty Girls) is work based on an ancient Central Asian epic and takes place on Sunday, March 4 at 4pm in the Bowker Auditorium on the UMass campus.
The performance is free for Five College students and is made possible by generous support of the Five College REEES program, the UMass Departments of History and Languages, Literatures & Cultures, Smith College Music Department, the Smith College Lewis Global Studies Center and the Amherst College Music Department.
