Congratulations to Associate Professor Lucinda Canty on recently receiving a $500,000 grant from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center to study preeclampsia, a pregnancy-related complication.

Much is still unknown about preeclampsia. Canty and her research team will delve into its causes with the aim of improving treatment and outcomes. They will also look at if the condition disproportionately affects Black women, who are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women.
