The Cottage Garden A Little About The Cottage Garden’s Philosophy We are a full Member of WECAN, Waldorf Early Childhood Assoc. of N. America.

Our teaching is very informed by the work of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Waldorf Education and the work of Dr. Emmi Pikler. We have artistically created a space in which young children can unfold their individualities—their gifts and uniqueness— and begin the long process of socialization. We hope to awaken the children's artistic sense through coloring, puppetry, music and household activities. Our program provides opportunities for large and small motor development and nurtures the children's sense of imagination, wonder and awe through the telling of traditional nursery rhymes, and simple folk tales. It provides a place where they can unfold their ideas through play. Play is the "work" of childhood and is given a place of utmost importance in our program. We believe that fostering the imagination lays the foundation for creative thinking in later years. For more information please see our website:
