Read-A-Thon Rewards in Action!

These Panthers earned a very special Read-A-Thon reward β€” helping with our morning announcements!

They stepped up to the microphone and helped get AES ready for a great day! We love seeing our students excited about reading AND getting to enjoy the fun rewards they've earned along the way.

Keep reading, Panthers! We can't wait to see who earns a special reward next! πŸ“–πŸΎ

πŸΎπŸ’™ The People Behind the Panthers πŸ’›πŸΎ
Meet the people who make AES ROAR!

There are so many incredible people who work each day to make AES a great place to learn, grow, and belong!

Throughout the year, we’ll be shining our AES Staff Spotlight on the people who make it all happen. From the classroom to the cafeteria, the office to the playground, and everywhere in between, every member of our team plays a special part in making AES ROAR!

Every Wednesday and Friday, we’ll shine the spotlight on another one of the People Behind the Panthers! Follow along as we celebrate our staff, share what makes each of them an important part of AES, and have a little fun getting to know the people behind the ROAR!

Who will be in the spotlight first? πŸ‘€

Chromebook Protection PlanπŸ’»
This year families have the option to purchase an Optional Chromebook Protection Plan for their student’s school-issued Chromebook. The protection plan costs $20 per student/device and is non-refundable. Families interested in purchasing this protection plan are encouraged to do so through the online SchoolCash Online payment portal by September 11th.

Important DatesπŸ“…
The Optional Chromebook Protection Plan will be available for purchase beginning Monday, August 17, 2026, through Friday, September 11, 2026.
After September 11, families will no longer be able to purchase the protection plan for the 2026-2027 school year.

What Does the Protection Plan Cover?πŸ’°
The plan provides coverage for accidental damage or loss of the Chromebook, according to the following schedule:
1st incident: No cost to the family
2nd incident: 50% of the repair or replacement cost, whichever is less
3rd and subsequent incidents: 100% of the repair or replacement cost, whichever is less

Potential costs for Chromebook repairs or replacement may include:
Up to $300 for device replacement
$50 for screen replacement
$35 for a replacement charger

What Is Not Covered?
The Optional Chromebook Protection Plan does not cover:
Lost or stolen chargers
Intentional damage to the Chromebook or equipment

If ACPS determines that equipment was intentionally damaged, the student and/or parent/guardian will be responsible for 100% of the repair or replacement cost, whichever is less.

Other Insurance Options
Families may also choose to obtain property insurance at their own expense to provide additional protection for school-issued equipment.

Please note that choosing not to participate in the Optional Chromebook Protection Plan or choosing not to obtain property insurance does not relieve the student and/or parent/guardian of responsibility for the school-issued equipment or any applicable repair or replacement costs.

Thank you for helping us ensure that our students have the technology they need to learn and succeed throughout the school year.

πŸ“šπŸŽ‰ Our Read-A-Thon Starts August 19th! πŸŽ‰πŸ“š

Get ready to READ, Panthers! Our Read-A-Thon fundraiser officially kicks off on Wednesday, August 19th! Students will be able to start tracking their reading while helping us work toward our fundraising goal!

This fundraiser is extra special because the money raised will help support our school AND help us reach our goal of providing a yearbook for every student!

Families, be on the lookout for a Read-A-Thon post from your child’s teacher on ClassDojo with your classroom-specific information and directions for getting signed up!

Let’s get reading, Panthers! πŸΎπŸ“šβœ¨

A Great Start to a New School Year at AES! πŸ’›πŸ’™

What an exciting couple of days at Amherst Elementary!

Yesterday, we kicked things off with a successful Transition Day, giving our students a chance to meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, and get a little more comfortable before the big day.

Today, our hallways were officially full again as we welcomed all of our Panthers back for the first day of school! From smiling faces and new friendships to learning classroom routines and settling into a brand-new year, it was wonderful having everyone back together.

A special thank you to our amazing Amherst (Virginia) Elementary School PTO for providing snacks for our staff to help us kick off the school year! Your support and thoughtfulness are so appreciated.

We are off to a great start and can't wait to see all the learning, growing, and memories this year will bring.

Welcome back, Panthers! Here’s to an amazing school year!

πŸŽ’πŸ’™ Stronger Together: Back-to-School Night at ACHS! πŸ§‘πŸ“š
What a great evening! Despite the storms that rolled through the county, families made the trek to our division-wide Back-to-School Night - and we are so grateful they did!

This event was all about making sure our students and families are ready for a successful start to the 2026–2027 school year. Families were able to:

πŸŽ’ Pick up school supplies generously donated through our Pack the Bus event and by local businesses, organizations, and community members.

🀝 Connect with community partners and ACPS staff who shared valuable information, resources, and services available to support our families.

πŸ’‰ Visit the Virginia Department of Health, which was on hand to provide required vaccinations to help ensure students are ready for the first day of school.

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who donated supplies, volunteered their time, shared resources, provided services, and helped make tonight possible. Your support makes a difference for our students and families!

And to the families who braved the weather to join us - thank you!
We are excited to welcome our students back for the 2026-2027 school year!πŸŽ‰
