Seniors, your last day of school and graduation are next week!! We will have a lot of activities to celebrate all your accomplishments next week, so make sure you're filling out your Senior Survey, showing up for the last day (for the chance to win a bunch of prizes!), and getting excited for graduation! 🎓

During the week of May 5th-9th, we will have information sessions for all seniors to prepare them for the transition from high school to their future plans. We will have representatives from local schools, businesses, and military branches in the small gym to answer your most important questions (like how to find support on college campuses, what to expect in boot camp, and how to nail an interview), and all attendees will receive free breakfast/lunch!

Please see the following schedule and sign-up for the session that corresponds with your future plans, all links are in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom. Due to students coming from CVCC/Gov School, most events will be offered during both 2nd and 6th periods on that pathway's day. If we have low registration for an afternoon session, it may be moved, so please make sure you're checking your emails regularly! In case you haven't yet heard, the FAFSA is now open, which means it's officially time to start working on financial aid! To assist students and families in completing this important form, we will have two FAFSA Nights at ACHS, one before and one after winter break. Students attending ANY form of education after high school (this includes CVCC, trade schools, and anything that's not a full-time job or the military) need to do the FAFSA, and we're here to help! ✨🎓
On Tuesday, December 10th from 4:00-7:00pm, we will have office hours in the Library, and on Thursday, January 9th from 5:30-7:00pm, we will have our FAFSA Night in the cafeteria with financial aid professionals from CVCC. At both events we can answer any of your FAFSA questions, work on your forms, and help you get your FAFSAs completed and submitted! 🤑💸

We will be hosting an information session for Senior students and their families on the evening of Wednesday, November 20th at ACHS from 5:30-7:00pm. We will give a presentation on FAFSA/financial aid basics and will assist families in registering for an FSA ID (required to file your FAFSA!). Family members of all ages are welcome, and food will be provided! Kindly RSVP by Monday, 11/18 if you wish to attend. Last week, we had 39 students accepted to college during on-site admissions as part of our Virginia College Application Week events! Thank you to our representatives from Radford University, Randolph College, Central Virginia Community College, and the University of Lynchburg for working with our students to make a plan for their future! We have 6 opportunities to participate in on-site admissions coming up in October! With on-site admissions, you will show up, speak with a representative, and leave having a college admissions decision without having to wait weeks or months for an answer! Some schools require applications submitted a week before the event (Radford and Mary Washington), and some schools will let you submit your application on-the-spot with the representative (Randolph, CVCC, Sweet Briar, and Lynchburg).

Sign-ups are located in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom! 🎉👩‍🎓

If you are interested in participating, please read the interest forms in their entirety to make sure you're submitting applications with enough time to participate in the event. All of these applications are free, so I strongly encourage you to apply! Applying via on-site admissions doesn't mean you're required to go to the school, it just gives you a decision earlier.

I am happy to work with you on any/all parts of your applications so you can get them submitted on time and participate. Please see me in the Lancer Center if you have any questions!

For those wanting to take the October 5th SAT, the deadline for late registration is TOMORROW September 20th!

SENIORS! If you are planning on submitting SAT scores with your college application and haven't taken it yet, the October date is your last chance before early applications are due!

Questions about whether or not to take the SAT? Please talk to Ms. Kiefer in the Lancer Center!! Worried about paying the registration fee for the SAT? Fee waivers may be available!

We will be hosting an information session for Senior students and their families during our ACHS Open House on the evening of Wednesday, September 25th at ACHS from 5:30-6:30pm. There will be a panel of admissions and financial aid professionals from Randolph College, Sweet Briar College, and Central Virginia Community College to answer questions about all parts of the college application process.
