Welcome back, everyone!

On Wednesday, students, faculty, and staff from Architecture, BCT, and LARP came together for our annual Welcome Back Pizza Party! It was a fun hour filled with good food, conversation, and a chance to reconnect as a community.

We’re so glad to have everyone back in the Design Building and are looking forward to a great year ahead!

Yesterday, the Architecture and LARP programs kicked off the Fall 2026 semester by welcoming our new graduate students!

Orientation gave our new students the opportunity to meet other people in their cohorts, as well as our faculty & staff. Students also received tours of the Design Building and W.E.B. Dubois Library; they finished off the day by attending workshops and training sessions.

Thank you to all who attended! The Architecture Department is also excited to welcome back returning students next week to officially start this academic year.

The Architecture Department faculty came together yesterday for a day of reflection, collaboration, and team building --- thoughtfully cultivated by our Interim Department Chair, Prof. Joseph Krupczynski.

Their retreat was also an opportunity to welcome two new faculty members: Daoru Wang and Mariah Smith!

The Arch Dept. is excited for the year ahead and all that we’ll learn, create, and accomplish together.

Coming soon to the Design Building Gallery: SEEING PLACE, an exhibition by Professor Emerita Kathleen Lugosch. The show explores her relationship with the forest she calls home through photography, maps and abstractions.

It runs from September 8 - October 22, 2026.
There will be an opening reception September 10th from 4:30-6:30 pm.
