Today was one that reminded us of why we do what we do.
In partnership with the Massachusetts Work Force Board/Mass Hire we held our first college, career, trade, and military fair in our gym. It was an opportunity for students to explore post secondary options and speak directly to the people making decisions on their applications.
For the past several weeks, the students have been completing a variety of interest inventories, work values, and skills surveys through MEFA. The students used some of these results to help them focus on future plans while meeting the vendors they chose to visit with.
We all watched with pride as they had conversations and received information and “swag” from each of our 20 participants.
Planning an event like this is an enormous undertaking, and couldn’t be done without the dedicated staff of AIHS. A special thank you to Yevette Garcia, Youth Services Specialist from Mass Hire, who helped coordinate the event.
We also were so appreciative to have Massachusetts State Senator Barry Finegold, Central Office Finance Director Joan Liptorto & Hillary Fraize from Amesbury SEPAC in attendance.
We are already planning next year!
