🚀🌘 Going to the moon won’t be just a story from the history books, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman told a crowd of students overflowing from the Howe Hall atrium on Tuesday as he discussed “the most exciting era of exploration since Apollo.”

“Your generation will more than witness it – you’re going to be part of it. You’re going to be the builders, the operators, the astronauts contributing to what is the greatest adventure in human history.”

“We are going to need the best and brightest to help us achieve our near-impossible missions, and Iowa State is already preparing so many of you to do exactly that.”

The Department of Aerospace Engineering joined with the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the Eastern Iowa Airport • CID and others in the official announcement of Ascentus, a new initiative to market the Cedar Rapids area as a hub for the aerospace industry. Iowa State University President David Cook (center), Department of Aerospace Engineering Vance and Arlene Coffman Endowed Department Chair Wayne Chen (right) and department graduate students were among those on hand, with students staffing the department’s display.
