🌽The final piece came together in time for the 2025 Iowa State Fair thanks to a unique collaboration between The Iowa Barn Foundation and ISU ABE.

🛠️The project gave students “the opportunity to challenge their innovative abilities and sharpen their engineering skills.”

“We are fortunate to have an amazing project like this come to life thanks to the generosity of passionate donors,” said W Samuel Easterling, James L. and Katherine S. Melsa Dean of the College of Engineering. “This is an investment in our students that will provide hands-on experiential learning and inspire innovation for generations to come.”

Today, Iowa State held a dedication ceremony for the Therkildsen Industrial Engineering building, which will house the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. Named in honor of Iowa State graduates and lead donors C.G. “Turk” and Joyce A. McEwen Therkildsen, the new facility offers state-of-the-art research labs and learning spaces for engineering students. Thank you to the Therkildsens and the many other donors who offered their generous support for this new academic building!
