We know —these programs have long been vital in supporting and low-income students. Despite their proven success, these programs face potential federal budget cuts, threatening the support systems many students rely on. Dr. Stephanie J. Last week, junior and senior students from Hampton-Dumont, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown and South Tama got to visit the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Iowa. Students learned about what a TRIO program can look like at the college level.

We also got a hands-on tour at Hansen’s Dairy farm which included making butter, milking and feeding cows, petting kangaroos, and sampling their ice cream!

Rising seniors from Fort Dodge, Perry, Hampton-Dumont, Marshalltown, and South Tama enjoyed their trip to Chicago last week. Activities included visiting the The Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, Wrigley Field, the Sky Deck at Willis Tower, Lincoln Park Zoo, and an architectural tour of Chicago. Students also got to tour Coe College in Cedar Rapids and DePaul Univeristy Lincoln Park Campus.
